I get the 2 old bridges will need to be replaced sooner than later, they'll need a new bridge one way or the other. and I'd be very surprised if they build the new one right beside the 2 existing ones. that was a stupid idea at the time, and it would still be a bad idea.
make the new one like the Champlain bridge in Mtl, add something for a light train to pass on it too. yes that will probably be near l'Île d'Orléans. too bad so sad.
and that would cost half the price of what a tunnel would.

no, Ottawa and Gatineau already have 4 short bridges, much smaller river.

Ottawa/Gatineau metro area is almost twice the size of Quebec City metro area.

I wouldn't trust any transit project in Ottawa until they purge those (frank)ers who (frank)ed the LRT. I live in Hintonburg and they were supposed to take away all of the buses because everything is going East-West on the LRT. More buses than ever before on the roads and this pile of poop is dead 80% of the time.

Gatineau is pushing for it, Ottawa not that interested...at the moment, people in Orleans are totally against it, we already have ridiculous traffic going downtown, this would make things 10x worse.
