This is also odd

Interesting, upon further glance at pads, that appears to be Jakub Skarek on the ice as the #Isles second goalie, not Semyon Varlamov
Nevermind

Haha, sorry to run you around on the Isles second goalie but...it's Varlamov. New mask. Stand down. My bad. |

Hanging our hat on losing gracefully is for someone else not me. Show some fire and (frank) everyone else and what they think. Win these two games and (frank) the canes and their moron fanbase.
Have to agree with this. New York sports on any level is not graceful. We are down, dirty and nasty fans. We want are teams to be the same way.
While I do not believe it was total reason for the Islanders lose. It sets tone for the series, the upcoming two games in our building that we are not going to accept that crap!!!
Give me fire over kisses any day.

D pairs have been rotating, Romanov heavily involved.

So he’s no longer skating on his own? That’s my translation from this post. If so that’s fuking excellent. |

That's exactly what it's saying. He's taking a lot of the rotations through the d-pairs.

Romanov said he feels good and ready to go, but it’ll be a coach’s decision along with how he feels later as to whether he plays
I'll be shocked if he's not in tonight. It's not like Bolduc is playing so well that it's going to be a tough decision for Lambert. |

Lambert (predictably) won't say if Romanov is in tonight. He does concede that if he can't go, Wotherspoon is in. |

agreed. Romanov's comments pretty much say it all. Ultimately the decision would be more his than anyone's. They're not going to sit him if he feels ready. This is naturally a huge bump for the Isles, rusty or not. I think it could be argued that prior to his injury, Romanov had been playing the better than any other Isles dman, Pelech included.
I hope he's not tentative when it comes to laying big hits. He's literally the only Isles dman capable of doing it and they could really use that type of intimidation factor in their game tonight.

interesting wrinkle for the Canes is Puljujarvi coming in.
While losing Teravainen is certainly a blow talent-wise, Puljujarvi was the Hurricanes most physical player in the games he got in during the regular season, averaging nearly 8 hits/60 minutes.
So less skill but an even heavier forecheck than before. |

Agreed, but I think honorable mention goes to Pulock who has been very active physically in the first two games.

Wasn't meant to be scary, just saying that they're going to be hanging onto the puck in the transition a little less and they'll be leaning even more heavily into trying to grind away in the offensive zone. |

If the Canes want to trade hits for hits, I think the series tilts toward the Isles. Talent for talent favors the Canes. |

You would think it has to be Lamberts plan to turn up the physicality even more. |

If we hybridized his hands, Lee's feet, and Bailey's compete level....we'd create the most useless monster ever |

They don't want to trade anything. They just want to get the puck in your end and keep it there forever.
As far as talent level goes I don't think the Canes have all that much left. They have like one true top line guy in Aho, a 2nd liner in Necas, and then a bunch of third line guys. |

6'4, 230 pounds, great at pinning the puck along the wall and never, ever moving it in any direction. |

I'm thinking so. Wearing the Canes down IS working. They're getting pretty beat up and pretty frustrated. |
