They don't want to trade anything. They just want to get the puck in your end and keep it there forever.

As far as talent level goes I don't think the Canes have all that much left. They have like one true top line guy in Aho, a 2nd liner in Necas, and then a bunch of third line guys.

- BINGO!

I think I tried that line when I was a teenager........but it didn't get me to 1st base.

The Islanders specialty is 3rd line type players. And first line guys who can't score or defend.

interesting wrinkle for the Canes is Puljujarvi coming in.

While losing Teravainen is certainly a blow talent-wise, Puljujarvi was the Hurricanes most physical player in the games he got in during the regular season, averaging nearly 8 hits/60 minutes.

So less skill but an even heavier forecheck than before.

- BINGO!

At this stage I don't think the Canes forecheck is quite as much of a concern. The initial shock factor is over and the Isles have adjusted. I would say that in many ways the Isles were the better team 5x5. Even up shots were 27-25 Canes, but the Isles had 14 HDCF versus the Canes 5. It's also telling that the Isles had significantly more takeaways.

I think for the Canes it will be a cliché road game of 'weathering the early storm' and trying to hang around long enough to steal it late. That could very well happen, but I would imagine this will be the Isles best most tenacious game yet.

Agreed, but I think honorable mention goes to Pulock who has been very active physically in the first two games.

These last two games have easily been Pulock's best two games of the year IMO. He needs to bottle that and bring it next year.....

It kind of has to be, right? More or less in do-or-die territory already.

You would think so, but this Isles team has had a habit of showing up totally flat at times you'd expect them to be ready to bust through bricks.
As fan's, we've been tortured into taking nothing for granted

If you were just persistent, I'm sure your hockey coach would have caved and put out eventually

Damn if I knew Bergeron would be out, I might have wanted Boston in round 1 a little more. He’s out until game 5 minimum.

Why? Who cares really? First year coaches are supposed to bend over and take what they get from the league? He gets fined a few bucks which I’m sure there’s some term in his contract it gets absorbed somehow. I almost think saying nothing is actually worse and gives these clowns a longer leash to keep doing what they’re doing. Brind’Amour for all his whining is considered one of the best coaches in the league among other “whiners” who also have that label.

To me it’s all part of gamenship in the playoffs. Look at trotz who by some is considered the epitome of professionalism is this league. Both him and Cassidy were critical of each other and the officiating last time we played the bruins. Believe me Brind’Amour is doing and saying what he is for a reason and that’s to try and have some semblance of control over the officiating. There’s no style points for winning. The vast majority of Stanley Cup winners haven’t done it based on some code of ethics to get there. Look at Tampa. Hated coach and team and dirty plays along the way but ultimately winning is all that matters.

Hanging our hat on losing gracefully is for someone else not me. Show some fire and (frank) everyone else and what they think. Win these two games and (frank) the canes and their moron fanbase.

I remember Mibury back in the day giving reporters a lesson about can openers during the Maple Leafs series. Don't recall him being fined for it. The guy was a tool in general but he knew how to play the system.

I think what you’re saying is, you’re such a loser, that you’re willing to bet a fictional $5G’s that you don’t have on the Isles, because if you do, than they’ll lose. Wow.

Kochetkov the backup.

Canes lines all jumbled up with Teravainen out.

I think Lambert knew Romanov was going to be ready for tonight. If not he made his mind up to play Wotherspoon midway through the second period weds. I'm pretty sure Buolduc didnt touch the ice after he skated over from the penalty box. No reason to do that to him unless Lane knew he wasnt dressing tonight.

Don't worry I bet $25k on the Canes so the Isles will win.
