Wasn't boarding but... was a bit more dangerous than one might think.
He was losing balance and the little shove finished the job. - Nasty_Duck
It was a puck battle and Rielly couldn't allow him to do a quick turn and center the puck or take it to the net. Nothing nefarious there. Kucherov, on the other hand, needs a good combing.

someone should tell the Twitter illuminati that Point embellished on that play - pretending to hurt his ribs... so as to avoid being called out by the concussion spotters.
in less polite terminology - he pretended to be injured - BorjeFan4Ever
You actually think he was faking it?
Like to see you take a fall like that and come out of it all peachy...

Since when is there a penalty for being dangerous in the NHL? 2 minutes for not being cautious?
What's your take on Chara and Pacioretty? |

Never said he was trying to injure Point. But shoving someone (even moderately) at that exact moment can be more than a little dangerous - hence the result.

He must live under Jacobs desk. - Nighthawk Bruins own the Board of Directors. That hit on Eric Staal in game 2 wasn't even looked at. Nosec hit Staal about the same way Bunting did the Lightning defenseman. Nothing was done. Jeremy Jacobs owns Bettman.

The thing is that usually when someone gets shoved and they fall they've lost an edge. It's not intentional, it's the result of playing a dangerous game. That isn't what should be penalized despite the result. |

Rielly couldn't have known that he was losing his balance. He was trying to stop him from making a play in a one goal game. Rielly is a mild mannered defenseman and had no malice towards Point. The other nonsense was an excuse to try and take off the Leafs top point producers for 5 minutes. Wouldn't you, when leading by a goal, midway through the third?

Going back quite ways are ya? Maybe we should do some 80s and 70s hits as well...
I would say interference penalty. Both were fighting for position while chasing a loose puck. Unfortunately the very poor design of the arena helped make things a lot worse than they should have been. Notice how they re-designed that part of the arena shortly after the incident.
Lucic was subject to that in the exact same spot in an earlier game. Nothing called.
In Pacioretti's case the arena design aggravated the situation.
I guess you could say the boards aggravated the situation for Point, but that would just be silly...

I'm not sure which team that I dislike the most. Probably Tampa right now. Boston, at least, has a legitimate top tier team. I just don't like their preferential treatment. I noticed the sniveling rat Bettman was at the game tonight.

Mild mannered? Irrelevant.
And how many times do I need to say it was not intentional?
We have a different take on it. Move on.

Preferential treatment. LOL.
It's a collusion!

Watch replays from several angles in slo mo. Point initiates the contact by leaning into Reilly and loses his balance when he tries to kick the puck with his left skate.
Maybe he thought Reilly was too soft. |

No, I will make my point and then move on. We're here for a discussion, not an argument. It was a hockey play and it was unfortunate. In a one goal game, you have to make decisions like that. It wasn't done to injure, but take him off the puck. There was no stick work involved. It appeared that Rielly was trying to shove him into the boards and finish his check. He didn't know that he was losing his balance and tried to take out his man. The referees called a 5 on it and reviewed it. He then said it was a legit hit and gave him a roughing penalty with Kucherov. |

Nosek getting zero games for a predatory version of Buntings 3 gamer is a pretty good indicator. |

I just wanted a point of reference. I've attached the video because it seems you don't really remember.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jimZ1tSdPY0
The puck was gone, he was drilled into the partition. That seems a little more dangerous than a shove causing a loss of edge.
After all, we must all be aware of how dangerous our hits could be!!!
The way you talk you'd think smoky the bear was the bruins mascot.

And in those same replays you can see Reilly push point.
Wasn't trying to injure him, but IMO it seemed a dangerous thing to do at that speed that close to the boards. Kind of like why they have automatic icing so something similar does not happen on icings.

Naw ..that play happens every dump in/chase. Two guys lock up and ride into the wall. The difference here was Point tried to fish for the puck with his skate ...the push/contact knocked him off balance at speed. Bieksa laid it out in slo-mo perfectly.

I've seen it plenty of times. And now you are suggesting Chara timed it? In all their jostling you think he purposely made use of the poor design of the Montreal arena so he could inure Pacioretti? In your replay Chara isn't even looking at him at that point - he's looking down the ice.

Those 'close to the wall' shoves are dangerous ...BUT, those become a problem when the guy getting shoved has his back to the play. That was two guys looking for and expecting contact.
