There's just a lot they need to improve personnel-wise. They're a team full of bottom six talent. Very good bottom six guys but not enough top six guys. - keaner17
100% correct. As seen by the PP. I liked the Horvat trade, and maybe he’s hurt, but he’s been nowhere the entire series. |

Jezz, should they even make the trip to Carolina? What an embarrassment. |

So now we need to trade Horvat too?
Come on the team wins and they can win the series, lose the next game and we are to old and slow, no talent and should have tanked for Bedard.

Honestly for me, Horvat, Barzal, Nelson and Lee are a pretty good 5 in the top six. So dumping Bailey and getting another wing or maybe Wally grows up. But I don’t think a lot needs to be changed in the top 6.
Today they came out hot and I think you said it the Parise poop call and then the 5 on 3 changed the momentum of the game.
That said their play today was pretty disappointing for sure. - nyisles7
This series and the last few weeks of the regular season have stoked some of my concerns with Horvat. He has been virtually invisible this series. A complete non factor. Lee has been even worse. The game just appears to move so much faster than he's capable of playing and now he's losing physical battles too. Maybe they just need to be split up, but I don't feel at all good about what I've seen with them.
Credit to Carolina, they've neutralized several Isles this series but it's as much of a condemnation of those players as it is a tribute to the Canes.

What I said is I liked the Horvat move, and maybe he’s hurt, but he’s been nowhere. Zero pts yet on every PP, and now removed off the first line. |

No one wanted to tank for him but it would have been the best long term I don't think it's that hard to understand. This team is what their record says they are a borderline team that's in limbo, not good enough to win and not bad enough to tank. To me it's the worst spot to be in so we will see what Lou does |

Staal has been all over Horvat to his credit. Slavic as well.
Maybe the staff should have done more at home to keep Staal away from Horvat.
The Canes deserved the win today. They took advantage of their PP and the Isles were undisciplined. |

I think the Isles set the right tone today. They came out flying and dominated 5x5 play in the first. It seemed like only a matter of time before they took a 1-0 lead. Then came the Parise and Pulock penalties and it's 0-1. Then just when it seemed like they may get a 5 on 3, Wes called that crazy embellishment call. To me the game turned on the Canes second goal. They completely deflated at that point and never looked the same again.
Perhaps it's the post game negativity but beyond the personnel issues I mentioned, this team also seems to have a fragile psyche, where they don't respond real well to adversity. Maybe that's something Lane needs to work on. |

Refs took the isles emotions out of it by stopping the post whistle stuff and the Parise call was bad. The pluck call was a penalty though |

Tanking has never resulted in a team’s eventual success??
This team was never bad enough to “tank” but teams have most certainly tanked and ended up with Hall-of-Fame players. You can argue you need 20 guys for success, but when you get a Ovechkin, a Crosby, a McDavid, etc…it certainly adds the fuel to becoming a perpetual winner. |

5 on 5 coulda gone either way. Isles are 1/12 in PP’s. They can hang with anyone based on their physical style 5 on 5. They need an established PP coach, and bring in whatever personnel in order to hang with these post season PPs. The coach isn’t out there playing, but after seeing the PP being stood up at the blue line and not adjusting is on them. |

Stop blaming the refs. You’re just sticking your head in the sand at this point.
This team’s power play is historically bad and the coaches kept running the same players out to run through the same motions. It wouldn’t have mattered. This team embarrassed themselves today and I think every single one of them will admit that in the presser. |

The Pulock play definitely was a penalty. Agreed with the 2min. I will say I've seen calls like this get ignored due to the player putting themselves in danger with that last second shift so I would have been okay either way.
The Barzal embellishment call was atrocious and very possibly preserved the Canes 1-0 lead early on

There was no bark in the dog today.
While I believe the ref's sucked the energy out of the building early. They are not the reason the Isles lost this game.
I really do not see Islanders winning on road. Hopefully I am wrong.

Let me be explicit in saying the Islanders 1000% deserved their fate. As I said, I think they have a fragile psyche that causes them to go south fast in the face of adversity. The PP is the worst I think I've ever seen in the NHL.
My point in mentioning those calls is that they have a profound effect on the ebb and flow of the game.
"IF" that awful call on Parise doesn't happen, the Pulock call also doesn't happen and we remain at 0-0. "IF": Barzal doesn't get called for embellishment, we have our own 5x3 for over a minute. These things had a major impact on the flow of the game. The second goal then buried them.
The reality is, even if the Isles some how managed to eek their way through their series, there's no way they're going deep into the playoffs eith this PP |

Between the Spurs dismal display today and the Islanders shat show this might go down as one of the more depressing sporting day for me in a long time.
That said the Islanders need to go to Carolina and get the win. |
