No guarantee you’re gonna get the first.
Oilers got how many 1st and they haven’t won anything.
When there’s a Crosby, McJesus etc available if you suck then yeah trade your vets at the deadline and then if you’re lucky you may get that star and if you don’t ok you tried.
That said the Islanders were in no position, not even close to being able to do that.
Makes no sense.

Let me be explicit and saying the Islanders 1000% deserved their fate. As I said, I think they have a fragile psyche that causes them to go south fast in the face of adversity. The PP is the worst I think I've ever seen in the NHL.
My point in mentioning those calls is that they have a profound effect on the ebb and flow of the game.
"IF" that awful call on Parise doesn't happen, the Pulock call also doesn't happen and we remain at 0-0. "IF": Barzal doesn't get called for embellishment, we have our own 5x3 for over a minute. These things had a major impact on the flow of the game. The second goal then buried them.

The reality is, even if the Isles some how managed to eek their way through their series, there's no way they're going deep into the playoffs eith this PP

My post wasn’t directed at anyone specifically which is why I didn’t quote anyone. But, a large portion of our fanbase are blaming the refs and I think that’s misguided at best, delusional at worst.

You’re pretty spot on, I don’t get how this group developed a weak psyche, but all these *ifs* you described did in fact happen. There’s nothing you can do about it. I never played hockey at any kind of an amateur level above street, but every sport…it’s happened, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. The refs aren’t gonna go “oh, my bad” and change the calls. They get through that whole disastrous series of events only down one goal in their building with almost 20,000 fans rooting for them…where’s the juice? Where’s the “(frank) this, we got this” attitude?

I know Lambert was here for our runs and we certainly had a few stinkers for Trotz but we never played like this in a situation like this for him. These guys are pros, yeah Carolina might have more talent (and they’re missing 3 very good players) but blah blah blah. Go out and fight. Not used to seeing this group turtle shell but that’s exactly what they did.

He's coming in for Fasching, I'd bet
- keaner17

I don’t think so. At least he better not.
Lane put Fasching on with Nelson and Barzy and they scored.
I thought Fasching was one of the better guys.
Not sold on Lane honestly.

I agree with you that this team couldn’t tank. Forget that they aren’t that bad, they had too good a goalie tandem to tank. I was just pointing out that tanking sucks, but it usually works out in the long term for almost any franchise, any sport.

I'm honestly not sure who they would bring him in for but I'd bet money Chainz will be unchained in game five. I doubt they will break up the 4th line, so unless Engvall sits, it would likely be Hudson.

Fasching is one of the fastest skaters on the team, that alone should keep him in the lineup.

Stop blaming the refs. You’re just sticking your head in the sand at this point.

This team’s power play is historically bad and the coaches kept running the same players out to run through the same motions. It wouldn’t have mattered. This team embarrassed themselves today and I think every single one of them will admit that in the presser.

- potvin05

I don’t think he’s blaming the refs for the loss. The refs did make a couple shat calls but the Islanders didn’t move on and play their game. They played undisciplined from that point and deserved the loss. They need to be better than that and should be with the PO experience they gave on the team.
Just my opinion.

I already posted that it wasn’t pointed towards Keaner. There’s a large portion of our fanbase that is blaming the refs though.

I think in hockey it’s tougher because you tank for Bedard and you could get the 3rd pick.
Crosby type picks come around occasionally but typically even most 1st round picks aren’t guaranteed.

I said this on Twitter, the Parise call was bad but the rest were self inflicted and they had to chances of their own and did nothing

(frank) Spurs. I’m happy they got embarrassed. Whatever it takes to get ENIC to sell. I’m so done with all of them. This game, this team, this loss at home stings. Really thought this would be a much more hard fought game.

It sounds like Lane has no answers. I didn't like the tone of this press conference.

If I’m the coach ( and I’m far from it) I leave the team as is and tell them to get their heads out of their ass and play smart and disciplined Islanders hockey. Baileys not gonna add anything to the team imho.
I think Bailey got his last look at the end of the season and he didn’t earn a spot.

The Parise call was soft. The Barzal call was…puzzling, but like I said before, we get through all that down 1-0 with our home fans behind us…this team 2 years ago puts that behind them and wins. Not this absolute bullpoop performance that followed.

I agree that he's not likely to move the needle. I can just see them doing it as an 'inspirational tweak' to try something, not to mention give him a final Isles sendoff.....

That was BS and took a 5 on 3 away from us.
Burns got the call there and that’s BS. Barzal not one of the refs favorites unfortunately.

You maybe right but God I hope not!!!! I have never been a Bailey basher but he has truly been terrible this year.
He doesn’t deserve the nod.

His answer about changing up PP1 translated to, “the highest paid guys are out there because that’s who’s paid to score”. Unfortunately they’re not getting it done, and it appears coach’s hands are tied.

And this is 100% why I think that happened. After the check, Barzy turned around with that 'where's the call?' reaction. Suddenly he's going off too. Like it or not, Barzy has a rep with some refs as a whiner and they naturally look at reactions like that as being 'shown up'
