And this is 100% why I think that happened. After the check, Barzy turned around with that 'where's the call?' reaction. Suddenly he's going off too. Like it or not, Barzy has a rep with some refs as a whiner and they naturally look at reactions like that as being 'shown up' - keaner17
Oh yeah, Barzy female doges and whines to the refs too much. |

"I think I can be a lot better to be honest with you. I think I'm doing a lot of good things away from the puck and on faceoffs. But at the end of the day, I've got to find ways to score big goals or get on the scoresheet."
Well, this revelation, like his goal, is coming a bit too late. |

What else is he gonna say? The least he can do is own up to it. If he doesn’t light up the score sheet early and often next season he’s gonna become a lightning rod to the fans. |

At least he’s being honest with us. I think he may have been better off not scoring today. |

The Parise call was soft. The Barzal call was…puzzling, but like I said before, we get through all that down 1-0 with our home fans behind us…this team 2 years ago puts that behind them and wins. Not this absolute bullpoop performance that followed. - potvin05
This 100%. They sulked through 95% of the game in front of their home crowd after getting a couple of questionable calls. You can’t do that. That’s completely unacceptable. Every, single, team, deals with the same crap in the playoffs. Have to be able to battle through the adversity. If you can’t or don’t want too you shouldn’t be there. Period. |

As someone who never watched him in Vancouver, I can't speak to how amazing he might have been there. I just really hope there's a whole lot more to his game than what he's brought to the Isles so far because there haven't even been signs of the type of player I was told we were getting. |

He’s better then what we’ve seen but I think Islander fans were thinking they were getting some consistent 40 goal scorer when the trade happened. He’s not that. I will say this certainly isn’t a good look in the playoffs. He has been bad. |

The Canes have a few reasons reasons to be down. They’re missing, unquestionably, their 2 best players and they skated circles around us today. |

There were some upset canucks fans from what I saw at least. The canucks tried to lock him up but I assume they didn’t like the term or number. Smartly I’ll add. |

I wanted Timo Meier, I made that clear from the beginning. But, I can’t lie, I was happy to get Horvat. Wasn’t wild about his contract, but considering we can’t get any UFAs to sign here, I was happy about that too. If we do indeed get knocked out this round, he’s gonna have to have a strong start to next season or the fans will be all over him. |

Islanders had nothing. They played for five mins today in a game they could’ve tied the series up. Save for Pulock they didn’t show up bcs they got down after that 5 on 3. They were chirping to the refs the entire game and during commercial breaks. it’s hysterical bcs their PP is so abysmal it wouldn’t matter anyway. Then when they’d get a PP they would just crap all over the ice. Was honestly embarrassed along with everyone else in that arena. Can’t just keep throwing this cast of characters out there expecting something different next season. |

Ditto. I knew of him and knew he scored against us the last time we had played them, when they mentioned he may be dealt at some point. It's hard to say what that contract will look like in a couple of years ,with the ever-increasing salaries. Through his career he's averaged about 26g and 54 points per 82 games. Naturally that was the first thing I looked up when we dealt for him. Those numbers seemed a bit low for the price we were paying at the time. He looked good early on with us but has seemingly faded more and more as time has gone by.
I guess we'll just have to see how things go next season He seems awfully ordinary to me tbh

From what I saw here (take it for what it is), they didn't care all that much. They also thought the contract was way over what he's worth.
I tend to agree, but I think pretty much every contract is an over payment. It seems to be the way the NHL does business. |

I said that during the game. What’s the point of complaining if you’re not gonna score on them anyway. Not to mention, we trot out the same combos of players and they just play catch with the puck anyway, and that’s when they actually establish a zone presence. I would love to know how this gets addressed on the bench amongst the staff and players because it never changes on the ice. |

I guess I expected him to be some combination of Nelson and (pre-injury) Lee with the talk of him having a scorer's shot, being a great net-front presence, and being a good two-way player. He's been more like a slower, not-as-clutch version of Pageau instead.

I doubt Lambert is telling these guys to go out there and mail it in. I’m not a fan of Lambert nor do I hate him. I have no idea what to think of him. I wouldn’t care if they cut ties with him. I do know there needs to be personnel changes. This group has done exactly what we saw today far too many times over the last couple of seasons.
Stars were aligned for them to get in to begin with to an extent. They get the opportunity and really didn’t do anything with it. It’s one thing to lose it’s something completely different to do what we all watched today. To not acknowledge that this past offseason was a mistake to ignore it again this coming offseason would be negligent imo. Problem is we traded our first in this draft so we’re already starting off on the wrong foot. |

Over 34g with the Isles, he has 8g 9a 17pts.
Over 82g that would be 19g, 22a for 41pts. Those sound awful Beauvillier-like.
A lot will be made over the price it cost to acquire Horvat. I would say so far he hasn't come close to living up to that cost. It will be up to Lou and Lane to get him closer to his perceived ceiling next year. I will say that I'm probably more worried about Lee at this stage,....
I do think with goals like today and you can clearly see the talent is there with Bo. He lasered that goal with ease. For whatever reason, things just aren't working here thus far. Maybe it's the system. Honestly Nelson has sucked this series too, so no one is lighting it up |

They have one top-6 winger left at this point.
Aho still their best player though. |
