D-vo and Florida's pick will be sent for TheWood.
Dach will most probably play wing and rotate once in a while to C.
With many contracts "leaving" this summer, Habs will have enough cap space. |

not too bad.
need to ship contracts out more than that to open spots for kids though. |

Big Ed will most probably be shipped "for less" this summer.
Quite sure Hoffman played his last game.
Byron = Out
Monahan = out
Drouin = Out
If Dvo is traded (regardless to WNP or an another team) and Big Ed is also traded, Habs would free up 27,708,333
Enough to qualify some kids, explore the goalie market and make a big splash .. Dubois at 8.5m? Another star at 8-9M ?

I think they'll sit on it. nothing interesting on the UFA market this summer imo, plus Habs are not there yet. kids need time to mature. when that is done, then it will be time to spend with what is left.
Damphousse said the same thing the other night. patience. |

Given all the poope going on in the playoffs(cheap shots, fighting, etc…) and with the size of the kids we have(Caufield, Hutson, RHP or Farell)…. a guy like Dubois would fit for sure…
I am not a big fan to go big at the expense of the talent but when you can find both, this is something you need to try hard…
Another reason I would try to keep Anderson if possible…. Not the biggest talent but he can be a good complement on a small top 6…
One guy I see leaving on the short term is Jake Evans… With Kidney, Beck and possibly another Center at next draft, I don’t see him having a future on the team…

If the return is not there, I also don’t see him leaving this Summer… Big Ed will fetch a good return at next deadline and the young guys will have more mileage…

if Farrell ever makes this team we're in deep trouble.
agreed with the rest even if I like Evans. good leader but replacable. |

The left side is "busy".
You risk not being able to trade Ed if/when he gets injured. I'd rather lose a bit on his already low value and make room for a kid that will most proably bring better hockey on a consistent basis. |

Not talking next season but near future…
He definitely needs a season at Laval but he will join eventually and he is another small one…

and where will he play exactly? he'll take Caufield's spot? or Slaf's?
even Heineman and RHP are ahead of him, and I don't see that changing after a year or 2 in Laval. sorry I don't see it. package him for something else, like you said we already have more than enough small players. |

A guy like Farrel has to play top 6 or not at all…
The way he does in Laval will dictate if he plays in Montreal or not…. There are also injuries…
Yep… many small guys on top 6….
Trades can also happen…. This will be interesting Summer for sure…

yeah, at 21 he barely accomplished anything in all of the 6 NHL games he's played. there's no way that he could continue his development playing quality minutes in Laval and eventually become a useful NHL player, that would be so absurd.

no Pat, he will certainly get better, that is not my point.
my point is will he become good enough to take Caufield's spot? I doubt it.
Slaf will also get better (hopefully!) will Farrell become better than Slaf? I doubt it too.
then where does Farrell play? |

I don't think it's necessarily "top 6 or nothing" for him to play with the habs. also, since the team is in rebuild mode, a lot of roster changes can happen one or two years from now, it's very premature to say he'll never make the team, ever, imho.

why do you compare him to Caufield, lol?
you need more than one player on a team
Farrell is mtl best forward prospect from what I read |

I thought Roy might have more offensive upside, but I don't follow prospects all that much.
