"Wrestling" is reality TV for fat mouth breathers that think they're badasses.

Nah it’s just funny entertainment. I get it though you’re really cool, and I haven’t even followed wrestling for like 20 years.

Hallander signed a 5 year deal to go back to Sweden. Just when he finally showed some offensive pulse. Probably too late, but thought he'd compete for a fourth line spot.

Good thing we traded McCann for him....

Hahahah fvck the Islanders, man. Rode the best* goalie in the league all season into the playoffs and the irony of him letting in a goal like that to end their season is thick. By far the worst team to make it in. Brutal 5 on 5 in the regular season and far worse PP than the Pens....15.77% haha

* it's him or Ottienger IMO

To me it speaks volumes when a guy like that leaves the Penguins organization (although I guess we technically still keep his rights) when they are desperate for bottom 6 talent. Clearly he didnt think he'd get much of a chance.

Penguins sign Nylander to a 1 year deal for $750K. 1 way contract so you have to think he makes the Penguins next season.

Apparently Hallendar signed this contract a month or two ago. I could be wrong but I think the Pens still have to make an offer to retain his rights.

People joke about Hextall deliberately sabotaging the Pens. I obviously don't believe that, but can't deny little doubt sneaks in on occasion lol. Dude took a meat grinder to this team in such a short period of time.

They outplayed the Canes 5-5 for the better part of that series. Hey man I’m not really invested or anything. I’d just rather root for a hardworking group of guys rather than marquee names. I guess I’ll go with Panthers and Dallas now. Always loved Jamie Benn.

When it was all said and done, no, they didnt. You could say that for games 2, 3 and 4, sure. Plus Canes were missing an absolute stud and another important top 6 guy.

I believe Hextall wanted to rebuild, not sign Malkin and Letang and start over. Now you can agree or disagree with that and who knows if stocking draft picks would have worked but if they were not willing to rebuild then he should have been let go once the FSG bought the team.

I think the mistake lies first and foremost with Morehouse and Lemieux. Unless they were planning on a rebuild, hiring Hextall made zero sense.

Hextall's role in this was clearly having no set plan to get this team to where they wanted to go. He gave out bad contracts, made bad personnel decisions, and just did nothing to make this team better, in fact he made this team worse.

The blame also lies with FSG. They couldve seen that Hextall wasnt the guy and used the perfect excuse to fire him last offseason and bring in someone new that shared their vision. No way FSG wanted to rebuild so bring in a guy who can actually build a team.

I have some friends up in Boston and I told them the same thing... regular season accomplishments feel nice until Game 1. Then it all means nothing. Boston had some serious 1993 Penguins vibes.

Side note - I dont think he'd be a guy FSG would look at, but with Minnesota's early exit and their impending salary cap hell, I hope the Penguins make a call to Bill Guerin for GM.

Definitely a lot of hands steering that ship into an iceberg. I hated the hire from the beginning. His work in Philly was a disaster and somehow Morehouse didn't let the dumpster fire on the other side of the state bother him. I'm convinced the Grandlund trade was a parting middle finger to FSG.

He'll be lucky if he gets a scouting job after kneecapping two teams like that.

I agree with all of this. Also heard that the directive from the top was to try to be competitive but also build toward the future. Stupid middle of the road BS gets you nowhere. And yeah, Hextall and Burke should have been fired early 2022 after the stupid Carter extension in January that totally f'ed us.

A lot of blame to go around from the beginning all the way up until Hextall's belated firing. Despite their best efforts to be competitive, Pens are beginning the rebuild whether they want to or not, and they will get nothing for their assets to assist in the rebuild. It's the Red Wings 10 year plan.

They're so dumb and deluded that they'll probably keep going down the same path and waste more assets for another doomed shot at the Cup. Don't rule out the profit motive in all of this, too, by stringing fans along for as long as possible by keeping the nostalgia party going well after they are actually competitive.
