I feel like before he came along we didn't know just how stupid people were - like really were. I would've thought you'd have the same idiots out there occasionally, but no. Every day more and more and more idiots. Gatherings of them.
I don't even know how they managed to get dressed and find their way to the studio, but there they were.
He paved the way for the awfulness of Geraldo, Maury and more of that ilk to come along.
I don't recall ever hearing bad things about him, per se, and admittedly someone was going to make shows like his no matter what, but you can't feel good about yourself when your job is basically exploitation. - Monkeypunk
We knew people were stupid. We just didn’t know how much that stupid stupid people would enjoy watching other stupid people on tv. |

The only seats available in Section 309 are a threesome - row 7. $873.63 per seat. No, you can't buy one or two. Only three. - Atomic Wedgie
Considering those seats were $840 face value for a pair for seasons tickets holders that's a pretty decent profit margin.
Looks like for a pair of seats in the nosebleeds your are paying $336 per seat at the minimum. That's in a corner (sec 301) and row 17 (2nd last row).
And before I even posted this that pair sold and now the cheapest pair is $578 per seat.
I should have bought the first pair - could have made a quick 200 bucks per seat! lol

I've seen interviews were he professed to being deeply embarrassed by what he did.
Yet he kept doing it.
Fun fact - he was a progressive Democrat.

We knew people were stupid. We just didn’t know how much that stupid stupid people would enjoy watching other stupid people on tv. - Canada Cup
I mean I don't know how to describe it. I was just sort of shocked at how many there were. You'd think after a couple of years they'd have to say, "Well, that's all the really stupid people we could find having babies and doing awful things. We're wrapping up the show now."
26 years and 5000 episodes, according to Wikipedia. I mean . . .wow. Most of my experience with the show was clips shared, or shows like the Soup making fun of it - but there were always a bunch of people on the stage - it's like a Skydome full of stupid, right there.

I'm afraid that a comment like this will go political, so I'm just trying to point out that people do a lot of things for money - a lot of the guys on Fox, when their text messages came out, didn't believe the propaganda that Fox was pushing. They told lies for a living - or at least espoused information that they believed to be lies. But the pay is good and they just live with it.
I don't know much about any of these people - Sally, Maury, etc. but as the talk show wars heated up, there sure seemed to be a lot of competition amongst them to out-horrible each other.

I’ve been watching American channels on my streams a lot lately. They literally just stick to the game, some of their expressions are hilarious and unexpected but it’s about the sport and not some made up soap opera.
To be fair I’m certain the viewer amount is far higher in Canada but still… lol |

Oh i have no doubt during broadcast some do just stick to the game, depends who you are watching. Im more so referring to the local media reporting, talking heads, radio talk shows etc.

Probably 70-80% of the people on here and Leaf fans in general thought Dubas would be gone if Leafs lost in first round. Sports journalist assumed/speculated the same thing. Now, Kypper is assuming/speculating that Dubas has options. There’s likely no hard information to support either notions. This doesn’t seem like a big deal. |

From what I understand, the league is fully aware of all of this, they looked into it, and neither Keefe nor McCauley have any problem with McCauley working the games.
So it's a non-story, as much as we would like to make it into one. - Atomic Wedgie

I'm a big Dubas fan and I'd be very disappointed if he didn't get extended. He made good moves in the offseason, and incredible moves at the deadline. He should have been locked up long term then. If the team failed to perform in the first round, you can't blame him. He addressed almost every question mark in the last 10 months.

I gotta say, despite the team's shortcomings in the playoffs during his tenure, I think Dubas is a very good GM.
Odds are, replacing him would be by someone worse.

Agreed on this, he proved his value this season regardless of the outcome of the playoffs in my opinion. Even if you look at what's coming up in terms of who is signed next year and for how much the Leafs are not really in this cap hell all the other fan bases like to claim they are.
Imagine if Muzzin can't play and he can trade his contract or even better his and Murray's contract?
Knies and Robertson both under 1M next year (Knies for another year too)
Woll under 1M
Jarnkrok at 2.1 for 3 more years
Laf at 1.15 M next year
McCabe at 4M for 2 more years
Timmins at 1.1 for 2 more years
Lilly at 1.4 next year but is an RFA the following year vs UFA
Gio under a Million next year
It's not all doom and gloom and there are options.
