A whole season of flaunting superiority only to collapse when it counts and in the first round.
Too bad Canucks couldn’t have grabbed Bruins ‘24 1st it might be a lotto pick. |

McCann also plays center so real shame that wasn’t valued. Problem was Jake was picked so high. They gave him too many chances. If only it was Jake going out and they kept the draft picks too.
Darn hindsight it’s always right. |

LAK, BOS, NYR, COL all being out of the SC is a huge TV ratings loss for Bettman. - VanHockeyGuy
Yes, However SEA VGK FLA and potentially NJD all moving on fit Gary's agenda as well. |

Maybe we should fold and go the expansion route and get gifted some good players 😆 - Bettmanhatesus
lol that's what happens when Bettman changes the rules for his new expansion teams that shouldn't even be in the league. |

He’s definitely not, but like everything else in life, time makes sh it go away. So bust his balls while you can. |

Seattle wins a playoff round in their 2nd year, it took the Canucks 11 years to win a playoff round. - A_SteamingLombardi
So terrible teams can turn it around fast is what you're saying? |

And to add to that - anyone crying over Jared fawking McCann - I often think about how many of our hindsight, grass is greener "fans" would have stuck by him through the first 7 years of his mediocre career. And if they're willing to admit it, then I guess it's an exercise in waiting for prospects to develop at the NHL level right???
anybody willing to step up and admit it? Bueller?? no? |

Both him and Virt were rushed to the NHL. But yes, many here would have labeled him a bust after a couple mediocre seasons (hell, look at Petey last year).
As well, people talk about Grabner as another example of a guy getting away. But he was waived and bounced around before he broke out |

Some players do better in other systems, not to mention that having to play in a hockey mad market like Vancouver, Toronto or Montreal can make even the most can't miss prospect have issues. It's not easy when the fans, the media and the coaches and management all get on you if you aren't playing up to your full potential every single night and constantly questioning your commitment/preparation/mentality because they're getting heat themselves. It can wear down on a player like McCann, Grabner, etc. and it's not that they "got away" it's that they went to a team that was the right fit for them and they weren't expected to be the "Next Big Thing" or "Franchise Saviour" there. |

McCann was doing okay in VAN, rumors he was a problem in the room. Perhaps he called out Bo and his passive aggressive buddies?
