To be fair, that 2014 draft for Benning was excellent. It could’ve been on that level had he not messed it all up and Aquilini not forced them to pick Jake Virtanen. Just look at this if they didn’t take Jake or trade McCann and Forsling, not to mention mishandling Tryamkin. That’s a game changer! But they did, mess it up.

And they were gifted a pretty good team to start with the (newer) expansion draft rules. But full marks to the GM for rounding it all out and the coach for applying a very structured system.
