absolutley. Schenn was a backbone and Marner was an assassin. Quiet and deadly. - UsernameUnknown
Schenn was more impactful than any of could have predicted. |

When you're battling along the boards with this guy, you aren't moving. He's very calm and cool with the puck. He doesn't just hammer it around the boards and makes the safe play, 98% of the time. This guy could teach some of the younger D-Men how to play in their own end. Players like Lilijren and Timmins would be well served being educated by this guy. He deserves a bit of a raise and a 2 year contract.

For sure.
We aquired 5(?) guys at the deadline and he should have been the 5th most impactful of the group, not the 2nd and arguably the 1st.
Edit: 6. My bad. |

Most of the core came through big time. - Fakepartofme
All of the core plus O'Reilly and the MVP Reilly were key to Leafs winning.
Marner top 2 in scoring. Mathews 6th heading in to tonight. JT, Nylander and O'Reilly all tied for top 16.

McCabe has eaten significant minutes and dished out some hits, but man he scares me in the Leafs zone.
Acciari, O'Reilly and Schenn have had a big impact. |

He's an RFA. He probably gets 4.5 for 3 years, if the Leafs flame out in the next round. If he wins the next round, that goes to 5 for 3 years. - PrinceLH
Just remembered that Washington let him go for absolutely nothing and my brain damn near exploded. |

He's had solid, quiet moments as well as some oh jesus what are you doing moments. Their entire D struggled with Tampa's hard forechecking though. It's hard for me to say McCabe was noticeably worse than the rest. Gio and Brodie also struggled. Obviously Holl doesnt even need to be mentioned.

When I looked at this series, I had written that the Leafs would win in 6 games. The difference would have to be Samsonov playing up to Vasilevskiy's skill set. He didn't have to be better, just be equal. He did so. Another reason that I believed the Leafs could win was due to better depth and Tampa's roster being a year older and depleted depth overall.
The Leafs have a real shot of advancing past the second round. The Panthers/Bruins series has been a slugfest and we don't know what the impact of their Game 7 will be. There's a good chance that the Panthers/Bruins series could be an overtime thriller. |

Just remembered that Washington let him go for absolutely nothing and my brain damn near exploded. - joel878 Hard to give up on a goaltender that was taken in the first round. It was a great pickup. He was an afterthought, after the Murray acquisition. That, is another option if he can get into shape in the next week. It's Samsonov's net to lose, but it'd be great to have him if need be. Of course, Woll is no slouch. No one saw this coming, the Leafs with solid goaltending depth.

He played 27 minutes tonight. He looked absolutely spent at the end. His 2 turnovers were so weak I wondered if he was injured. But I am very happy with his play. He is no Hedman but has been a lot better than the other defenseman with a $2 million cap hit.

I’m not sure that depth turned out to be much of a factor. Keefe had to blow up the 4th line and go to 11/7 because they were getting killed. Occiari and Kampf contributed defensively but this was all on the core and Sammy who made mistakes but came up huge |

He did a lot of things right but there were times when his retrievals were just so slow even w/out big forechecks |

After being on for 14 of 19 goals, he had to be sent to the pressbox. Looking at Tampa's defensive depth, losing Cernak was a major blow. They had no depth, while the Leafs had 9 NHL caliber defensemen on their roster. After Holl was removed the goals against dropped significantly.
