I don't think any Bruin fans were worried about anything other than steamrolling right through Florida on their way to a cup.

That's what makes this so (frank)ing delicious.

- joel878

Yup. HB GM's and "experts" wrong on cup winners again.

Boston plays a different style than the Leafs obviously. I'm interested to see how Leafs and Cats match up with each other rd 2.

I feel like Florida plays a lot like the leafs, the leafs are just more talented top to bottom. It's why the leafs had success against them in the regular season.

But it's the playoffs and Florida's a proven giant killer. I believe the leafs can handle them efficiently but if they go into the series with that mentality they will be caught with their pants down and will pay for it.

I don't think the Leafs will take the Panthers lightly. I hope.
- Aetherial

I don't think they will.

I saw a tweet earlier today, from a Bruins fan, actually, that said that to him, it looks like the weight of the 1st round has been lifted from the Leafs shoulders and that every team should be scared of them.

And I agree. Winning against Tampa should free them of all past everything. Go and do what you know you can do.

Read something a week or so ago that mentioned that the Bruins cap is ugly next year and they have to pay bonuses for this year out of next year's cap.
- Aetherial

Yup I looked it up some time ago. They gave Krecji and Bergeron like 4.5 million in bonuses to keep their cap hit down this year. They gotta pay it on next year's cap. I can't see Bergeron coming back another year but I've said that for like 3 years and been wrong...soooo... who knows lol

Honestly I think Schenn is going to be a pivotal Dman for the Leafs. Either he can muscle Tkatchuk or he's going to get exposed. It actually could be both simultaneously

I'd be afraid of the Panthers. They can skate with anyone.

Fast and very physical. I think it will be a chippy series much like they did with the Bruins. Depends on which Bobrovsky shows up though. He was a tire fire at times this season.

That's kind of how I see it, too. I think (hope) the Leafs are better at the cycle game. Florida is much better off the rush, but I'm hoping the Leafs don't let them open up to play that kind of game and tight checking 'playoff hockey' will prevail to hopefully give TO an edge.

They technically are both giant killers, no? Like a lot of people thought Tampa would beat the leafs with Vasi in net and how they play.

Both teams had solid round 1's but now they gotta get their head in the game. Leafs can't take them lightly. ROR and Schenn hopefully settle them down and prepare for the next round.

It is the reason I don't chirp on other team's boards.

Except that one time I posted dancing monkeys on the Habs thread (I apologized ahead of time) ...

and karma paid me back for that one a couple years ago

You know what makes this sweeter? Leafs have the bruins first round pick from the Sandin trade. Habs fans have been excited for the panthers demise all season because they have the panthers first round pick from Chiarot deal from last year and it just got worse for them.

You're a good man Ahjay. The ribs are for thos fans that were wearing those ridiculous chains. Ullmark wasn't the same as during the regular season, little contribution from Bergeron and Kreijci.

I'm not ready to talk about this yet, but maybe down the line we have to acknowledge with more seriousness that the Leafs got outplayed in the first round. Can't do that all the way to the cup. If they don't push their own game, they're in trouble no matter who they play.

That said, Leafs at their best is simply better than Florida at theirs. All depends who we're going to get.
