Carol King and Gerry Goffin were writing hits for others may years before she released Tapestry. An excellent easy listening album. It would probably best fit into the folk genre. - winsix

It'll be a wide open, high scoring series. Both teams will trade chances. You can bet the Leafs scorers will have saucers for eyes. Leafs were always a quicker team than Boston, but couldn't match them defensively. I'm guessing that Florida will be nursing some injuries after that axe war with Boston. - PrinceLH
Not sure that makes me feel good or not but does sound like some fun hockey coming up.
Last year for Boomers would be 1965. 20 years after WW2. - PrinceLH
Pretty sure it's 64, but either way 69 is def Gen X for the Wedgester.

The Grateful Dead station on Sirrus once played 24 hours of versions of Dark Star only without playing the same one twice. A truly remarkable band. - winsix
They're one of a kind. However, they weren't built for radio and rarely tried to be a studio band. It's hard to gain points with the casual listener.

I had a roommate years ago that loved these guys. They are absolutely hilarious and write some good tunes.
Yes sad story. That being said. The rock and roll hall of fame is a must for any music lover's bucket list. I could have spent 2 days there. - jribout
I've been! But i was like 13 and most of it went way over my head. I do need to go back so i can appreciate it more than just liking Slash's guitars and MJs exotic outfits.

Took my son to see Dead and Company last year in NY. Was fantastic. Still one of the truly great jam bands. Respect to the Allman Brothers.

You can easily spend a full day listening to the music from all of the members.
He was definitely one of the most or the most talented musicians of all time, all things considered. Elton John is up there for me also. - Aetherial
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road would be Elton's best. Other great albums, Frampton Comes Alive, 1976. Seen him live at Maple Leaf Gardens in the spring of 1977. Band on the Run, Paul McCartney's best, in 1974. Deep Purple, Machine Head, 1972. Had that one in Quadraphonic back then. Alice Cooper, Billion Dollar Babies, 1973. Linda Ronstadt, Heart Like A Wheel, 1974. Main Course, The Bee Gees, 1975. The 1970's was probably the greatest decade for classic albums. I almost forgot Hotel California, the Eagles.

Could be. I was a boomer and my wife is Gen X 1966.
I need to have Colorado to come back and win this late game, to keep my perfect bracket intact. I'll need the Rangers tomorrow. So far 6 for 6 and nailed 4 of them with the right number of games.
I wish the talking heads at Sportsnet would shut up about the idea that the Leafs would have wanted Boston in the next round. I think not. I think they'd rather have a beat up Panthers team with Home Ice advantage. To win the Cup, you need some rest, keep your players healthy and moving forward into the next round. They don't ask you who you beat, they ask you if you won the Stanley Cup. That's the only goal and getting breaks along the way always helps.

They keep on talking about how Florida is red hot because they were playing playoff hockey at the end of the season.
Fun facts:
Leafs were 7-1-2 in their last 10 games.
Florida was 6-3-1. - Atomic Wedgie
I think it's a good matchup. They're both good teams coming in on a roll.
Let's face it, there's a lot more pressure on Toronto. They also have the best player, but Tkachuk might be better than any other Leaf. There are many good players on both teams.
I'll let it sink in a bit and make a prediction on game day. In your pre-season prediction thread I called a Leafs 1st round win and a 2nd round loss. That still seems like a reasonable outcome but the Leafs could easily advance and should be favoured to.
Quick shoutout to the King as well. Elvis hasn't been a household name for 60+ years for no reason.
I dont know much of his work though to be completely honest. - UsernameUnknown
In those days, a lot of singles and compilation albums. They only cared about their formula on how to make hit songs. When the Beatles came in, they never stayed stagnant. They were always evolving and trying new things. They started as a guitar group, like Buddy Holly and evolved into a hard rock band by 1968. They made four movies with 4 soundtracks. Side 3 of Sgt. Peppers was an EP for Magical Mystery Tour, in Europe. They used that side 3 plus a number of singles to make it a full LP in North America. Same goes for Yellow Submarine, the animated movie.
