I think it's a good matchup. They're both good teams coming in on a roll.
Let's face it, there's a lot more pressure on Toronto. They also have the best player, but Tkachuk might be better than any other Leaf. There are many good players on both teams.
I'll let it sink in a bit and make a prediction on game day. In your pre-season prediction thread I called a Leafs 1st round win and a 2nd round loss. That still seems like a reasonable outcome but the Leafs could easily advance and should be favoured to. - golfingsince
There is truth to that, but the Leafs have more depth to insert from game to game, if need be.

I will only use one album per band because they could have a couple.
1. The Beatles (White Album) but take your pick
2. Rumours
3. Nevermind
4. Blood on the Tracks (but take your pick of Dylan)
5. Dark Side of the Moon
Most under appreciated, especially when it was released. Traveling Wilbury's volume 1 - jribout
In NPO ..
OK Computer
Rumours
Revolver
The Velvet Underground
London Calling
extra pick ...
Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust

It was garbage time for the Leafs and do or die for the Panthers. - winsix Leafs had to slay the Eastern dragon to get where they are. Tampa won the East, 3 years in a row. They earned their spot.

I think you can separate a discussion about your favourites from a discussion about the “best”. Your favourites can change and are often linked to a time and place in your life.
I don’t know if it’s one of the best or one of my favourites but I noticed no one mentioned Neil. Everybody Knows This is Nowhere deserves some love.
These days I enjoy listening to things I don’t know. I usually have my car radio set to the UofT or McMaster stations and tune into whatever they’ve got going and I often couldn’t even tell you the genre. - Canada Cup
Favorite and Best are difficult to separate here. While one could argue the merits of a song on technical excellence or vocal quality, it remains difficult to say something is really poop if it sells and tops charts (I still do this all the time) Neil Young is still playing shows and I'm really hoping to see him one more time. I think I mentioned before that I saw JJ Cale when I was a student at Waterloo. There were perhaps 200 people in that small lecture hall for the show. I loved it, my friend thought it was super boring.

It's art, everyone has a bias towards what appeals to them. For example, Mona Lisa is really boring to me but I really like The Scream.
I love Neil. I think he's one of the most underrated musicians. |

He was so good. Some really good reads about his life out there - Mormon lifestyle rocking out with Bowie.
Reminds me ...Amy Winehouse is way up on my lists as well. |

The west isn't very good this year. Edmonton has possibly the 2 most dominant players in the league. Goaltending can win them any series.
Aside from that, there isn't much if the Avs aren't healthy. Even then they aren't as deep as last year. |

Bowie's music spanned over 40 years with 26 studio albums. I wouldn't limit his quality material to the albums that Ronson played on. Station to Station,Heroes and Low for example were great. I saw Ronson with Ian Hunter at a greasy bar in Mississauga back in 1990. What a great show! |

Agreed. The West is the weaker conference. All of the out of the playoff teams sold most of their players to Eastern based teams. The top 6 Eastern Teams, were all better than what the West could offer. Even Edmonton has issues in goal and on their bottom pairings on defense. They may be the odds on favourite to come out of the West, as of right now.

I still have some Bowie on RCA.

I don't think he was limiting Bowie as much as shouting out Ronson.
Ronson's guitar and exploration was a huge part of the birth of punk rock.
He would have died shortly after you saw him. |

Serious question, do you watch a lot of Western Conference Hockey? I wouldn't classify it as weaker. It's different. |

Neil is tremendously popular. Leonard Cohen gained popularity much later in his career and is considered a master by many now. The one great writer out of Canada that is underrated for me is Joni Mitchell. It's probably because she chose jazz as her genre. As an amateur guitarist, I have an appreciation for great players. While still subjective, it is way easier to compare greatness in musicians as guitarists, bass players, pianists, drummers or vocalists than to compare albums, where writing comes into the equation.

I think you're forgetting about Dallas and Vegas. I rank both of them higher to come out of the west than Edmonton.

A tragedy!

Its funny you bring up the mona lisa i was just thinking about the idea that watching the Let It Be documentary on Disney+ is akin to watching the Mona Lisa dry for 10 hours straight. It'd be incredibly boring if not for the societal significant of it.
And i do equate those two similarly. I think in 1500 years time if Russia and the States haven't blown up civilization, humans will revere Lionardo Da Vinci and the Beatles in the same vain. They're both that significant. Right up there with Shakespeare. |

That NY piece of crap needs to retire. Time to get someone from Canada to run the NHL. It is our game and we'd know what works more than an NBA trained seal.

I think entering the playoffs the Oilers were considered a top 5 team, even though they didn't finish 1st in the west. Ekholm was a huge addition.
