I think you're forgetting about Dallas and Vegas. I rank both of them higher to come out of the west than Edmonton. - Aaron_85
I like Edmonton a lot more than either of those two teams. Vegas doesn't have a goalie.
Winnipeg was so insanely injured that you can't really judge that round as a positive takeaway for Vegas. They won, but the fact that it wasn't a sweep is its own red flag.
Dallas is solid - they play playoff style hockey, have tight defense, and have some game breakers up front - but I like Edmonton over Dallas. Once the Oilers got their act together, they've been insanely good. Since March 1st, the Oilers are the #1 team in the league: 18-2-1; Vegas was 3rd, Dallas was 5th (so you're right, they are very good teams who have also been playing well). The Kings were 6th, so keep in mind how good the Oilers first round opponent really was.
Toronto, by the way, was 10th, and Florida was 11th. Tampa was 23rd for what its worth.
That said, we are into a whole new season where we know that recent play is an indicator but not as indicative as we'd think. Tonight's surprise casualties Boston and Colorado were 2nd and 4th over that same period.

Its funny you bring up the mona lisa i was just thinking about the idea that watching the Let It Be documentary on Disney+ is akin to watching the Mona Lisa dry for 10 hours straight. It'd be incredibly boring if not for the societal significant of it.
And i do equate those two similarly. I think in 1500 years time if Russia and the States haven't blown up civilization, humans will revere Lionardo Da Vinci and the Beatles in the same vain. They're both that significant. Right up there with Shakespeare. - UsernameUnknown
I can relate to that. Decca records really screwed the pooch on that one. If Lennon hadn't hooked up with Yoko Ono, the Beatles may have produced another 5 to 10 years of music. However, you can't argue that all 4 Beatles did well on their own. Each one had a different vision of their musical future. Add it all up and the total musical attributes of all 4 are staggering.

I don't think he was limiting Bowie as much as shouting out Ronson.
Ronson's guitar and exploration was a huge part of the birth of punk rock.
He would have died shortly after you saw him. - The Law
I caught Ian Hunter's towel when he threw it my way after they did Cleveland Rocks. Ronson died in 1993 so a few years after. Hunter an Ronson were close. My point was that Bowie had many great guitarists over the years. When I saw Bowie on the Serious Moonlight Tour, I was anticipating Stevie Ray Vaughan - but he quit and was replaced by Earl Slick. Ronson came out for one song - Jean Genie

Neil is tremendously popular. Leonard Cohen gained popularity much later in his career and is considered a master by many now. The one great writer out of Canada that is underrated for me is Joni Mitchell. It's probably because she chose jazz as her genre. As an amateur guitarist, I have an appreciation for great players. While still subjective, it is way easier to compare greatness in musicians as guitarists, bass players, pianists, drummers or vocalists than to compare albums, where writing comes into the equation. - winsix

I went 0/4 in the west
 - UsernameUnknown I got 3 of the 4 and 3 for 3 in the east, so far. Unfortunately, I had the Avs and Leafs in the finals, so I'm done! I do want to see the Rangers win tomorrow night for one reason. If the Rags and Leafs were to hook up, the Leafs would have home ice. Looking back at the regular season, the Devils made a comeback and won a nothing game in their 82nd game. That made the difference in the Devils having more points than the Leafs. Whoever wins the game 7 in the Metro will beat Carolina. Carolina plays at the same level from Game 1 of the regular season, throughout the playoffs. I'm not sure if they can elevate their play due to their mediocre scoring. Their goaltending is also suspect. Hope for the Rangers experience takes out the Devils, then Carolina.

Its so easy to look back at the history and talk about how much Yoko sucked. because she did.
But 45 years of separation kinda takes the focus away from the idea that Lennon was in his 20s and in love. Young love has derailed many careers before the Beatles and plenty more after |

You said it was like watching paint dry, for 10 hours.
I just think they're an incredibly accomplished band. Also, since everyone pretty much hears their music from birth you don't get to say "check this out" unless we're talking early daycare. |

I have been calling it Let it Be all night but its actually called Get Back. Whoops. - UsernameUnknown Yeah, I did too. Bought the Blu Ray copy of it at Target in the States. It wasn't just the Let It Be recordings but a number of Abbey Road tracks and singles that were released between the two albums. Most people don't realize that Abbey Road is really the final Beatles album, but Let It Be was shelved due to issues with mixing the tracks with Phil Spector and the Wall of Sound. The 2021 remixes were great, as was Let It Be...Naked, the George Martin version of these tracks, that he remixed before his death. George Harrison was at his apex of song writing prowess during that time period. When he quit for a couple of weeks, he was recording tracks for All Things Must Pass, at his studio in his home. He had some heavy duty input from Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan during those sessions. |

She let him go for his lost weekend, but made sure her aid, May Pang serviced John and keep tabs on him. He was able to do an album without her, John Lennon Rock 'N' Roll, during their time apart.

Gotta give you props, you really know your stuff. That's fascinating. I knew Harrison and Clapton were really close, didn't know Dylan was a part of that posse. Or that Abbey Road came last in the studio.
Let It Be is still my favourite Beatles record but i cant argue with any one's being different. Except Yellow Submarine
I'm headed to wind down.
Tomorrow's topic is going to be classic literature.
Starter topic to stew on: Catcher In the Rye is boring as hell. |

The amazing thing about Ween is they also have hours of songs that were never included on studio records that are better than most band's entire body of work. |

Great album, for those that know a little about progressive rock the Gabriel fronted Genesis were an exceptional band.
