Underestimating the opponent will be Leafs potentially biggest problem in the upcoming series.

So FLA on Tuesday

I'm thinking the Boston 1st round pick that the Leafs have will be around 24 with Boston losing in OT.

I don't see Florida winning this, but I didn't see them beating Boston either so what do I know?

Might be a thing since they're 3-0-1 in the reg season.

But underestimating the team that eliminated the big bad B's - nah

Think so?
Think they are or will underestimate a team who knocked off Boston?
Don’t think so.
Leafs haven’t hit their stride yet, that’s a given.

So, the Leafs came back from 4-1 with 10 minutes left to win a playoff game and won the series. And, the Bruins blew the best ever regular season, a 3-1 series lead, and a lead in the 3rd period.

I just wanted to say it.

My Leafs boner is so royal blue it's almost black.

Crazy.

It's like I said earlier, they chased that regular season record and peaked too soon.

What I also found fascinating is how Keefe did a lot of experimenting with line combinations and 11-7 lineups in the last month of the season, then in the playoffs in-game lineup shuffling keyed some comebacks, and an 11-7 lineup clinched the series. Funny innit.

I don't really think he is. In Game 5 when the Panthers won 4-3, he was excellent. In games 6 & 7 I didn't think he was challenged as much as you'd have expected the Bruins to do. In fact in thinking about those games, the Bruins had a way of playing that created more space by quickly moving the puck into open areas. They played a lot like a team that knew where each other would be (which they are).

Now the playoffs do create more interference, picks and plays which prevent players from cleanly getting into open pockets. Maybe the Panthers did that? I don't know really because I wasn't paying attention that much - more just watching the game and absorbing the insanity of game 6 and game 7 - but when you think about the saves Bob was making, they weren't stellar all that often.

What game 6 & 7 did show is that the Panthers are at their best when they go for it and play offensive hockey. I almost think after being down 3-1 Maurice finally asked someone, "Hey. What did Brunette do here last year that worked?" Because games 6 & 7 looked more like last year's Panthers than this year's.
