Should still temper expectations for a rookie. Cheechoo scored 50 goals too and look where he ended up.

Also, the kid is likely to go through growing pains as time goes on so lowering expectations and increasing patience will go a lot further when it inevitably happens. I can see the cries for "trash Knies" already from some people.

Being from Belleville, I saw a lot of Cheechoo, when he played for the Bulls. He was a great scorer, but lacked the defensive game that is required for the NHL. Knies has a decent defensive game, probably due to his time in Division 1 College Hockey. Both Cheechoo and Knies played on Olympic size rinks, so the comparisons are applicable. Until the B-Sens arrived, Belleville played on an Olympic sized rink. It was later rectified to NHL standards, when the AHL team came to town.

I agree.....Pink Floyd is a little over-rated. I've got lots of their music, but think other bands are better. If you want great British Invasion, the Hollies had some great songs, many being hits for other artists. The Hollies lasted until the mid '70's and their music went in a softer direction at the end.

I've heard of them but never taken the time to listen. I think I'll give 'em a go!

Old man music is something I know very little about, you got that right. But I respect the hell out of the Beatles and understand the importance of how they helped shape what pop music is today, as well as the cultural impact they had on society in the late 60s/70's.

And then you'll tell me to enjoy Pink Floyd and I just can't. But if you're gonna make me listen to hippy music, then I'll to take a dose of The Lovin Spoonful.

Like other British Invasion groups they were Rickenbacker fiends. Look up: "I Can't Let Go". Linda Ronstadt did a version of this song in 1980 and had a major hit with it.

It was iffy agreed, but he made seval great saves in that game as well. It was still a really close and winable game.

If Samsonov is playing calm and not losing his net a la Freddie he can be great. The only other issue is the rebound control. Holy crap he kicks out a lot of juicy rebounds.

They really liked to harmonize with the vocals, damn.

Also forgot to mention John Denver and James Taylor.

Guess I like a little bit more of the oldies than I let on

I don't get angry on hockeybuzz but you sure do seem frustrated a little too often.

I call out that you're over the top on Knies and you always disappear when he has a bad game or wasn't showing well in his first three games. You'll be calling for him to be traded in a year when he makes rookie mistakes and onto the next shiny new toy.

- Aaron_85

Knies has been fantastic since he got here.

Maybe you are just mad he is 2 feet taller than you?

Yeah, Graham Nash was one of the founding members of the Hollies, before he joined Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Graham Nash still tours with the Hollies occasionally.

Hard to not be very excited about Knies. Twenty years old and already among the best forwards on the team for take aways. Without looking at stats, Marner, Matthews, ROR, Nylander, JT, Knies. Wins lots of battles for pucks.

ESPN saying the Lightning vs the Bruins would be a classic series in the second round this year, after the two teams played a man's game, late in the season. They might not get either.

Must be a pregame meal for the crew. It's either that, or they're watching the Blue Jays blow this game to the Mariners.

A lot said he shouldn't even get a chance in the NHL this season.

How he should have been Marlies bound.

So suck it, I am happy about it

If that angers you then thats too bad, go whine and cry with guy with the height of a 4th grader

- Santo_44

Youre a superstar.
Lol
Alot of people also said the should get a shot in the nhl this season. Lets be honest, had bunting not been suspended, Knies may have never seen a playoff game.
I was one of the peeps that suggested a deep playoff run with the marlies playing key mins would be great for him. But hes played decent enough to have earned a spot on the leafs playoff roster. Great to see. Glad hes up with the big club.
Didnt look great on the top line last night, but the kid as been on the ice for all OT goals.
Great to see.

One of his great talents is the ability to make room out there. He's good at getting the puck off the wall and giving his line-mates an opportunity to make a play. The Leafs need players that can control the boards and make plays in small places. He's improving, every game out.

We agree on a lot of things Leaf related, Prince, but I absolutely cannot agree with your assessment of Pink Floyd. No one, not even the Beatles, have matched Dark Side of the Moon as a collection of music in long play format.

I do love the 12 string Rick tone. But I'm more partial to its use in American music - the Byrds, Tom Petty and the Heaetbreakers, the Beach Boys. My other fave Rick players are Johnny Marr and Peter Buck.

I get it, I'm not as impressed with the rest of their catalogue. I've got a copy on Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs and it's very well done. It is a masterpiece, but it was basically a one off, considering most of the rest of their catalogue was middling.

Glad you were wrong

And yeah lots of positives in Bunting getting suspended, great to see something like that finally benefit the leafs

Happy to have both Knies and Bunting in for game 1 round 2

The Searchers were also a great band that loved the Rickenbacker sound. I have a copy of their Greatest Hits on DVD-Audio and it sounds amazing. Also have Damn the Torpedoes on DVD Audio. Great sound.

Can you blame most of them after game 5? It took until last night for the Millennials to see their first Leafs playoff victory in Round 1. Such a disgrace going back to when Eddy Belfour played for the Leafs. For a number of years, the Leafs needed to score 1 goal to make it happen. It took 7 years! You can even go back to 2013, when they blew a 3 goal lead in the third.....many forget, they still could have won game 7 against the Bruins, but couldn't score in overtime. I think Lupul had their best chance to win that series in overtime.
