if there would be more regular salary cap increases throughout the league then perhaps richer teams like the habs could benefit from it and splurge a little more here and there on certain players, but the cap is going up so slowly that you can't base your negotiations around that (I'm pretty sure that's what happened with Price's contract, they thought the cap would continue to go up, in which case his contract would've been less of a financial burden after a few years..). - Pat1993
bof, Price was overpaid but not by 10M. yes 2-3-4 M too much.
what really hurts them is the bottom 6 guys making 3M per. Byron, Armia... pis la scrap Drouin, Hoffman...

aaaand that's a significant amount lol....accumulated with other overpayments it makes it more difficult to add to the roster in the long run.

the new scouting dpmt should fix all that in the next few years. the problem with Mtl is that noone was coming up to take these spots. never! the GM had to trade for or sign overpriced vets.
with kids coming up every year it should be a lot easier on the cap.

proper focus on player development should help a lot too in that regard.

Feels like forever since we had a focus on this, with the same philosophy throughout the organization. Nice to see players come up from Laval and fit in almost right away, because they are playing the same style of game and know their role.
I found that Laval and MTL were often doing very different things with players all the time, and it showed when players were called up.

agreed 100%. as much as I hate Boston and Tampa Bay, those teams managed to forge an identity throughout the organization, thus bringing the big club and the farm club closer together with the same team concept.

Yeah, also like Detroit before all the poop unravelled.
Stevie Y has got them going in the right direction, though.
yeah, I'm pretty sure Arber is a really cool and smart guy that doesn't drink Bud light because it's a poop beer, but understands that the boycott is (frank)ing dumb.
