Teams with speed and skill beat out the “tougher” more physical teams.
Gudas at 33 would be Craig rivet all over again. No thanks
Gudas is also a piece of poop. I can’t imagine he’s a nice guy in our lockerroom.
Easy easy pass - Sabretooth9
The only thing you got right here is his age...
Gudas is loved in the FL room. One of the leaders of the team. |

So nets out to $5.5m at a 2nd and 5th for 2nd pair Dman.
Yup, absolutely.
Doubt he moves though, his wife/GF/Fiance has a career there IIRC - IonSabres

Heck no. He sucks and makes too much money.
No no no. - Sabretooth9
He doesn't suck, and for 2yrs at 5.5m on are 2nd pair would be sweet for Power. Guy would protect Power and let him learn and flow with the game. |

Seems like Florida is beating Toronto using all 3 elements Speed skill toughness!! Starting to remind me of another poster on here. |

Doesn't Trouba have 3 years left on his deal?
Overall, his deal would end when he's 32.
That's close to ideal. |

Your right I was on the wrong line, makes it even better. Gives the Dman you draft this year time to develop. And Trouba helps Power grow his game now. Plus his 180 blocked shots and 230 hits a year. |

Ya, Sabres9 see different games than I do.
Trouba would be good there, at $5.5m and l9w acquisition cost. FVCK, sign me up
Sammy Dahlin
Power Trouba
Gudas Lyubuskin
Stillman.
At least the front of the net would be clean for our young goalies to see shots in coming. |

Even though I'm not the biggest Trouba fan as I think he has a little Ristolainen in him in terms of how he plays from time to time, the defense you outlined above would be a big improvement.
The cost against the cap is another discussion.
- Dahlin ($9.5M estimated after next season
- Power ($7M estimated...?)
- Samuelsson $4.3M
- Trouba $5.5M (per the deal suggested)
- Lyubushkin $2.75M (one season left)
- Gudas ($3.5M per for 4 years per EH's projection)
- Stillman $1.4M
- Jokiharju $2.5M
- Bryson $1.9M
That's $34M locked up with the 7 you mentioned, and $38.5M if you include both Jokiharju and Bryson.
Having 40% of your cap, and maybe even 45% of your cap, tied up in your defense feels like a lot.
Paying your bottom pair a total of $6M per is also a lot. It's why many teams rotate their bottom pair every season or two, to save money.
The Sabres would likely need to do that if they are paying their top roughly $26M+ per against their cap. |

Gudas or Trouba seem like long shots. Both is hard to imagine.
Think the playoffs have put Gudas into a position to get much more than projected, or simply stay put.
I'd hope KA is pursuing a trade and not waiting for UFA. Time to be aggressive.

I agree with Trouba and Gudas. It would be nice if Adams was aggressive in this aspect. Could really help his team. |

His best opportunity is before/at the draft, imo.

Yeah, really depends on who's ready to deal and do those teams have what we need. There's a few teams that have a abundance of D Vegas Anaheim, even Tampa has a nice stable, LA, Winnipeg. Let's see what Adams can do. |

That's a fun game to go too.
Expect tickets to be $500 each IMO.
Strange opening monday night game vs the washed up jets qb. Why would the nfl have this guy kick off the season? Something isnt adding up? - Boss34

Almost time to find out. Tried hard and settled for depth additions won't cut it this year.

Curous how long the fan base would accept tried but couldn't get it done, so decided to settle because nobody wants to come to Buffalo. |

Gudas is projected to get $3.5M for 4 seasons, which is a lot for player who will turn 33 next month.
How much more do you think he's going to get? |

Zellweger sure would've been nice instead of Poltapov when the Sabres had the first pick in the 2021 2nd round.
More than a few people called for the Zellweger pick as it was a surprise he fell out of the first round. |

Let's see if he even gets there. Taking less to stay in Florida seems likely.
Would an extra mil or extra year surprise you, if he leaves?
