Hmmm. Perhaps you're right. I dont see Sweeney landing a top 6 center without a prospect like him as a part of the package. Was there an official rumor about the Jets or is it one of those "might make sense" kind of scenarios?

Fair enough. I also wouldn't mind Barbashev in free agency but thats a pipe dream at this point. I think he played his way into a great contract from someone.

Lol the off-season started way too early. Nick Schmaltz might also be available. Free agency day is likely going to be all depth players.

Saw one article today that thinks the B's will sign OEL as a reclamation project. Not sure if that is what the team needs. I wont be surprised if Sweeney goes bargain bin shopping again.

Ugh, the love affair with OEL. Maybe like 6 seasons ago but not now. I saw you guys chatting about PLD. Would love that but if EK is on to something than LA most likely has a better package to offer. Would be a tough get for the B's.

Yeah im torn on PLD. Schmaltz too. The options out there are less than ideal, and even if Sweeney wanted to, he is a bit handicapped by the cap. Its going to be tough no matter what.

I thought towards the end of the season that Zacha played very well when Krejci went down. It was good to see some chemistry with Zacha and Pasta so i think he'll be just fine filling the Krejci role.

I am hoping that Patrice still has it in him for one more. He is still very effective and i can't imagine he wants to go out with that playoff performance.

Sign a Michael Bunting since Bertuzzi is likely going for too much term.

I think they have more clearing out to do. After sleeping on it I can totally see Sweeney offloading 2 or 3 D men, and then lettin camp decide who plays on the bottom pair.

Might be the extreme version, but if they found a way to offload Gryz, Forbort and Reilly, I think you have enough space after the hall trade for Sway, Bert and orlov (if he wants to stay).

We will see what happens though. A couple of the D prospects dont look too terrible. Mitchell and Walsh might be able to make the leap eventually.


EDIT: Not sure what they are going to do up the middle yet. I would imagine that it might come via trade. Not sure there is anyone in free agency worth pursuing for the 2C position this year unless its Bergy.

Not a whole of UFA & RFA Centers out there, PLD would be nice, but I don't see it happening. Would rather hope 37 plays one more over guys like Domi, Drouin, ROR, Towes. I'm having a hard time coming up with who a target would be via trade.

There was a couple articles related to Elias Lindholm out of calgary. Just dont see how Sweeney gets that done with current assets. Might be best to just wait until he hits free agency (if he does).
