Everything Monty did backfired. A lot of times he was moving Bertuzzi up the lineup & it made sense at the time.
The Bruins giveaways were astounding, mistakes I would get on minor hockey players about not managing the puck. Some credit has to go to Floridas puck pursuit. But my heavens even #73 was throwing the puck away! It was gross.
In the end to the Bruins record setting year they got a lot of timely saves during the regular season and they didn’t get many this series which was pivotal. This one really really stings. |

Weird series, games 5-7 seemed to happen so fast. Bruins from what I recall completely dominated game 5 at home & Florida got a flukey OT goal on the Ullmark gaff. That really changed the momentum. They hit the road and don’t look right in game 6. They end up taking the lead in the 3rd and then Ullmark craps himself to which leaves the team and whole fan base stunned and shell shocked. They play game 7 on tilt and were so fragile. It was gone before they knew what happened. |

What does Lindholm have like 0 pts in 11 playoff games I read. He just doesn’t excel in playoff hockey. - Tachmo
Lindholm was BRUTAL.

The turnovers were awful to watch. It's true that playoffs are a different season.
Hats off to the Panthers, they worked for it.
I think that this was the last good run with this group. Patrice will probably retire and even if he doesn't, the Bruins are taking a step back.
You need to trade Ullmark for assets you can get either a young center, 1st, defenseman.
Now, you build around Swayman, McAvoy and Pasta. I would even consider listening offers for Marchand. You can't make the mistake of keeping him too long until you get nothing good back.

I don't necessarily get this. I understand that he didn't have any points but he and Carlo might have been the two more stable defenseman in the series defensively. He was pretty non-existant offensively though. They were the two of the few that ended with a positive rating on the series.
Hampus was on the ice for three total goals against in the series. If i am remembering correctly, one of which was Clifton sending a Panther player in on a break away and the 2nd was Bertuzzi passing the puck to a Panther in front of the net. |

In 8 post-season games with Bruins Ulmark has 3 wins, 3.54 GAA and SV% 0.888
Those are awful numbers.
Hard to tell if it was injuries, he crumbles under pressure, or both.
Impossible to say for sure as he had zero playoff experience before coming to the Bruins.

Not sure what to tell you then cause he was not good. At all. Nobody was a bad as Clifton but nobody in the D core really played well. D- from the whole group. F to the tenth power for Clifton.
EDIT: Maybe "Not good" is not accurate enough here. Ineffective is the word I would use. |

I'm not a fan of judging defensemen based on how many points they put up. So I don't really care if he has a line of 0's on the state sheet as long as you're pulling your weight on the defensive side. Starting with game 1, he wasn't getting it done on either side. You could tell he was over thinking everytime he had the puck on his stick. Hesitating to make passes out of the zone, throwing meatballs for passes, not winning battles in the corner, and not clearing the front of the net. All things he did in spades all season long. I'm not throwing the towel in on him by any stretch of the imagination, but I do think it is a cause for concern since he's signed to such a long contract. |

However, in his defense, it's not like any of our defensemen were playing up to their "standards". The above comments could apply to just about every defenseman on the team to some extent. It didn't help when the coaching staff made no adjustments to the system when Florida showed they were clearly crowding the boards and yet we continued to try and break out along the boards. The players should have made those adjustments themselves but the coaching staff should have been driving that home. |

Although if we had someone step up like Montour the series would have been over in 4, 5 at most. |

To be honest. My thought process on the drive home was Bruce Cassidy > Montgomery.
Montgomery did a hell of a job this year so it’s kind of unfair. He got too comfortable once the Bruins were up 3-1 and started to tinker when the lines should have been established.
Your top 6.
Debrusk - Patrice - Marchand
The top line needs Debrusk or Pastas speed.
Bertuzzi -Zacha- Pasta
Krejci felt like an anchor this playoff. - Mahewman
at this point I'm rooting for Vegas because of Cassidy. Players wanted a players coach, they got what they wanted and then didnt deliver. Monty's a decent coach, and he'll get better playoff wise, but this is on the players. Soft players couldnt handle a mean coach, but the same end results, with the same players.

I can actually get behind Florida winning. No real reason to hate them. Seriously (frank) Toronto and somewhere within the Hurricanes there is a Whaler so (frank) them too
EDIT: The Devlis have an exciting young team or maybe McJesus finally gets a cup. |

I'm rooting for Florida for this series, but it would be cool if a great coach like Cassidy won it all.

Big fan of Pavelski and his game. Even before his 4 goal performance I was really hoping the bruins would have put in a bid for his services when he was a free agent. Going to root for Dallas just because of him. |

Love Pavelski. San Jose letting him go was the death of that franchise. His ability to tip a puck in front of the net is insane and 2nd to none.
I’m fine with Florida making a run at this point. It won’t help the epic collapse but will prove they were at least legit. |
