You giving Bert a 7 year deal? - Feds91Stammer
I personally would prefer a 4-5 year deal. But if 7 years comes with a cap hit of 6m or less, (frank) it why not. (its not likely, but one can dream)
If you sign Bert, you need to trade Hall. Cap is going to be a female dog this off season for the bruins. |

4 year deal is what he was turning down from Detroit. |

If Bert is asking for 7 years. I am probably out unless he's taking less than 5. I liked his game and he meshed with Pasta but he also doesn't strike me as a player that is going to put the work in and stay in shape into his 30's. I could be completely wrong as i have no actual evidence. Just an inkling. Pretty injury prone as well.
I know its kind of lame but the whole, not getting vaccinated in Detroit thing is kind of a big red flag as well.

I know its stupid but it kind of tells me that he wasn't all in. You giving a contract to someone for 7 years that isn't all in? I don't think so. - Mahewman
Or you can see it as someone that is willing to stand by what they believe in. 2 sides to every coin. |

Except that meant that player couldn't play in at least 10 of the team's games...it is an issue and one that should be considered when doling out big bucks contracts. |

Would have to be the right $ amount on a longer term deal. Idk, there will be so much going on for Sweeney to do I think he is more likely to hit free agency. He could really cash in there. |

Given that they were tone def enough to sign miller, I doubt this is on management's mind. |

Well there's that...but in all fairness, I would say that was the only bad decision by management this season (pretty bad though ). |

If Bert signed a 6-7 year deal between 5-6m, I could live with it as long as he keeps bringing it like he did. It wouldn't be ideal, but I think the bruins would get value out of that contract for the majority of it.
We will see if it happens though. My best guess is that Bert is going to not have a contract in place before free agency. Same with the other rentals. There is a lot that has to go right before then for the ducks to be in a row and extensions to happen. |

7 years is too long.
Only players like Pasta, McAvoy, Bergeron etc should get 7-8 year deals. Would regret it like the Oil will with Hyman in 5 years.
5 years at $5-6M would be reasonable IMO.

Yes. Hopefully Zacha can slot in 2C as I believe Krejci is absolutely done. It's time for changes with this core. There is something very chokey about them with 2011 being the exception. It's been a great run and a far cry from the dark times of the Joe Thornton era. But it is over. These guys cannot break through as currently constituted.
The Front Office and Ownership did their jobs this year.
Tuukka is gone and he can't be blamed for this anymore.
To me the Chara - Bergeron era is unfortunately defined as "almost but not good enough"
37 is my favorite player, he has been since 77 retired. But it's time to call it a day. It's time to change up this core who simply cannot win when it matters most. - glove_was_stuck
You won in 2011 because you were up against a team which is bigger chokkers than you guys. You need to move on.. window has closed. I was lind of ulling for you giys this year but alas.. |

The Bruins made it to the Finals 2 more more times after 2011.
Was that just luck?

I think the consolation prize might be Bruce making it to the final. Good for him

I personally would rather see Pavelski get a cup than Cassidy (even though cassidy has done a good job coaching the vegas club after being fired).
Panthers v Stars all the way. |
