Henry Ford > Jesus who was kind of a Commie

Yeah, Jesus won't be able to get into Florida soon. They'll rush to heap coals around his stake.

It could be! I was chirping them this season saying they were chasing those regular season records too hard and their older core would break down in the playoffs. But I didn't think they would lose against Florida, I was mostly just talking poop.

Maybe some load management would have been a good idea for them.

It is nice to have the Bruins eat the biggest playoff choke ever. Nice to see something supremely Leafy happen to not the Leafs.

- Zezel

When does this terminology change to “pulling a Bruins”? I mean they now own some pretty special choking records in the NHL that I read earlier.

I have copied and pasted it because it makes me smile so hard! .

Blowing a 3-1 series lead and falling 4-3 to the Panthers tonight, the #NHLBruins pass the Maple Leafs for the most Game 7 losses by an NHL franchise (15), the Capitals for the most Gm7 home losses (10) and tie the Caps, Flames and Avalanche for the most Gm7 home losses in OT (3)

Born there? I’m just waiting for the whole state to just sink, starting with Mar-a-Lago. Place has been going downhill since Bogart and Bacall made Key Largo

No, thankfully not. But, been here since 1976, so I am grandfathered in. I was vouched for by two patch-wearing Florida Men and completed the initiation back in the early 90's. The rest is legend.

Interesting hot take on the radio today from a Boston sports writer:

The Bruins faced no adversity this year, so they simply didn’t know how to deal with it.

- Atomic Wedgie

It is something to consider.

I think that they maintained such a high focus for so long that they just ran out of steam. Key injuries to Krejci and Bergeron didn't help.

That tracks. Same poop with the Lightning in their president's trophy season. Just absolutely steamrolled every team. No losing streaks, multiple long winning streaks. And Bob and the Blue Jackets (who had POON JENNER) swept them. They felt entitled to win, based on their regular season dominance. Both teams (Bruins and Lightning) made that same mistake.

Difference is, when it happened in 2019 to the Lightning, their stars weren't geezers yet. They had more chances. The Bruins are about to have a very bad offseason. They shot their wad at the deadline for nothing and Bergeron won't be back, Krejci too.

It makes the upset that much sweeter. They not only lost, but Marchand went home that night with acute stage-5 butthurt.

I could see them moving Ulmark. Swayman is going to get paid and they could get a big return for Ulmark. My guess is that they really want to find the $ to keep Bertuzzi and replacing Bergeron and Krejci will be tough.

My bandwidth is taken up by a bunch of other processes right now, so I thought it was just a still image. But then it came alive.

The Burr podcast is great 'cause it's just after the Boston game, and while he's doing it he has the Kraken game on in the background and he keeps digressing and just talking about hockey.

They should move Ullmark while his stock is high. I was never convinced he is elite. A lot of one hit wonders have won the Vezina, assuming he wins it.

Their GM better be creative. He's got his work cut out for him this summer.

It's really an astonishingly savage loss. Coming back in the 3rd period only to lose the lead with a minute to go, and then lose in OT. Just a mind-shrieking blow from the hockey gods.
- Zezel

let's not be polite here... if this was the Leafs the word "Choke" would be all over the front page the TheStar and TSN - and in every other Canadian market.

Bruins were up 3-1 in games.

Lost in 3 straight. Gave up a lead in the Game 7.

Choke of Hindenburg proportions.

At first glance looks like they will have 7-8 Million for a backup goalie, a 7th D, and 6 forwards.

It still leaves them with a good core... but I don't see them having any depth.

Ulmark may be a luxury they cannot afford. Swayman is an RFA. They may need to make him their starter.

A few notes:

Plenty of reports Ullmark was playing hurt.

Ullmark has a NMC.

Swayman is eligible for arbitration.

Someone on Reddit’s NHL thread posted a really good breakdown of Boston’s cap crunch next year.

Ouch, didn't look closely.

I'll have to look that up.

Edit, just saw one lineup on Reddit but the conclusion was pretty much that they are not keeping Bertuzzi, Orlov unless they unload a big salary off the core (not much market for Hall I think).

And even after that... they are going with a bottom 6 at minimum wage.

rest assured - when Jeremy Jacobs begins to understand the impact of the "Unfair CAP" on his team - a quick call into lil Jerry Buttman and voila - CAP will go up by and unexpected 6M for teams that wear black, yellow and white uniforms - and Chara cross check rule will be reinstated.
