28th, I think because they were the first overall team (ha ha)
Speaking of their epic gag job, let's reflect again for a moment on the poetry of Marchand having a buzzer beater breakaway to end the series in Game 5 but being stopped. I'm gonna just marinade in that reality for a bit here. - Zezel
Confirmed, 28th.
Now the Leafs need to beat Florida so our pick stays 17th. |

general question regarding the draft order - specifically the Leafs being in possession of the Bruins 1st rounder this year.
with the Bruins eliminated - where does that pick now fall? - BorjeFan4Ever

Florida gives the Leafs a good run, but ultimately the Leafs have too much for them
Canes are too slow with too many injuries
Edmonton still has questionable defense, goaltending, and forward depth
Dallas is just better and more experienced than Seattle |

Leafs in the CF does not compute.
just seems so weird and impossible...for a Leafs team to ..win a few games in the playoffs

I saw the fans reaction when the Leafs scored the GWG against Tampa.
My first thought was: Holy crap, these guys are so young they probably never experienced this in their lifetime.

A fully healthy Carolina might give them a run, but I am not wild about their goaltending and Svechnikov and Teravainen (is he back?) is a lot of defensive depth lost. |

Yeah, I'd consider Carolina alot more if these 2 guys were there.
And no, I don't think Teravainen is playing, at least not the first game.
Devils are such a fast team and Palat has been such a great addition for them, they can worry about his contract sucking later. |

To be honest, I only really felt like it had been 6-7 years, basically since MMNT were on the team. It was easy to forget that there were 12-13 years of futility before that because a lot of those years they weren't failing in Game 7's. They were just abysmal.
This was the first series win for the Leafs since I have been on Hockeybuzz. Without looking it up, I would never have guessed that. |

There's currently a poopton of tickets for tomorrow night.
Season ticket holders trying to cash in.
Prices are high right now, but there's no way they will stay there.
It's going to become a bear market by noon tomorrow. - Atomic Wedgie
Still a ton of tickets left.
If you boys want to see a game, I suggest you start looking on Ticketmaster at 5 pm, as season ticket holders start to panic and drop prices. |

Our oldest child is 18 years old, so it was pretty dialed in for me.
I have so, so many horrid Leafs memories, but top 10 is phoning around to arrange babysitting for game 1 of the second round, because the Leafs were up 4-1 on the Bruins. |

They also skipped out on a few decades of misery too, so (frank) them. (frank) all the youth.
We should be able to do some sort of advanced liposuction where young people are just strung up in meat lockers, and we slurp all the youthy goodness from their silly bodies. |

I'd agree with most of those. Florida and Vegas are both solid teams; Florida played like crap all year, but may have stepped it up at the right time. Vegas going with Broissoit in net . . . I've always liked him - he was fantastic in Winnipeg and has been likewise in Vegas, but he's still considered a backup. I'd like Vegas to lose for the Mark Stone bullpoop. The Hockey Gods should be stepping up here. All things said, Vegas is deeper and more rounded, but Edmonton has a McDavid.
I do like Carolina, but the losses of Teravainen, Svechnikov and Pacioretty look huge; it leaves Aho to do everything. It feels like Carolina will try to smother them, but Jersey is fast and offensively dynamic. I mean Carolina beat the Islanders, but they didn't look good doing it. Carolina is faster than the Rangers - at least in pressure D, so that could play to their advantage, but they also employ a lot less punishing physicality which was probably the Rangers' biggest help in the series.
If Carolina goes with Andersen or Kochetkov, I'd like it better than Raanta; Smid was excellent this season and against the Rangers, but he's so new and difficult to have faith in that overall I do think the Canes have the better situation in net.
I think if Carolina had those three healthy, I would pick them, but given the circumstances I'd lean towards Jersey as well.
Dallas in 6 probably gives Seattle too much credit, but they've surprised me as well with how well they've played. |

Good article over on MLHS breaking down the Panthers.
3 very good lines of forward groups, then a pile of garbage.
1 really good D pairing, Montour, then a pile of garbage.
Bag of random garbage in net.
Leafs in 5. - gravyface
hopefully Lliljegren's pace (Being better than Holl's) will be beneficial. Lliljegren played quite well against Florida in the late season meeting from what I remember.
will be interested to see how McCabe recovers - he looked completely gassed at the end of Game6 vs Tampa.
