He's been adding grittier players to supplement the core all along. This year they got some bounces. They probably deserves to win it less than they did last year. That's hockey.

I don't know if he recently bought into it. I think he's always stuck that he wants to draft/develop skill/talent and trade for the grit because it's easier.

Foligno was a failed attempt at it but this is the first year he's gone all in.

and I dont think that is what got them over the hump, TB pretty much outplayed them a large chunk of the time...basically a bit of luck, some power play goals..and maybe not getting a penalty at a crucial time or two.
