Bruins season was the type of mirage that the Habs used to get in prime Carey Price seasons. Goaltending covers up a lot of warts... certainly did this season for the Bruins.

Both of Ullmark and Swayman had better than their own average years - in Ullmark's case significantly better. Playoffs appeared different... and the Bruin's coaching staff really did the Panthers a favor by not alternating both goalies to some degree. Ullmark's CAP hit is going to look ugly going forward I think.

Both very good points. It didn't help that Boston never had to play a meaningful game for 3 months, because they had such a huge lead in the Conference. Leafs had to go down to the last week to keep home ice advantage and knowing they had to play the 3 time Eastern Conference Champions. Tampa tried to catch Toronto and had to stay motivated to do so. Florida had to play playoff style hockey for a month, to get in on the last weekend. I was glad that they got the 2nd Wildcard because the Islanders didn't have what it took to physically challenge the Bruins. Too many people wrote Florida off, thinking Pittsburgh would get the last wildcard spot. Pittsburgh has been playing on past glory for 5 years and were never a viable threat. A lot of pride on the Panthers, considering they won the President's Trophy the previous year. Huberdeau out and Tkachuk in was easily an upgrade. Boston was ripe for the upset.

Boo might not be a game this Saturday because of F1 in Miami and Miami Heat game on Saturday(different arena but panthers take a backseat)

No one cares about the Panthers so owner is pushing for Sunday.

To not have Leafs 2nd round hockey on a weekend night would be a crime.

Yup.
Burke: Rielly (and Kadri)
Nonis: Nylander (and Engvall and Johnsson)
Interim (Shanahan, Hunter & Dubas): Marner
Lou: Matthews (Woll, Liljegren)
Dubas: Knies (and Sandin along with the other guys that we'll see about)

I agree with the idea of going for it.

But if you're gonna go that far to get a player, why not go for a much better player? Why give up so much only to get a bottom 6 player?

I get the idea of recreating the Coleman trade but he went way too far into that idea.

Oh I just agree on making the bold move. For that player? I don't think it was good. I believe Tampa made their move after Bruins got Orlov/Hathaway and the leafs had ROR and Acciari. It likely was a bit of a panic move. Similar to what I think the Foligno trade was for the leafs.

I agree with that, it looked like a desperation move by Tampa... Those types of deals always seem to backfire

When Schenn lifts the Cup second after Tavares, Burke will be helicoptered down on a divan in a toga to tell us all this was always his plan.

Rielly fell to number 5 because he blew out his knee in junior. It was probably the worst draft year in the last 20 years and Burke rolled the dice. He rolled a 7.

Wasn't that the year that Tavares went 1 and the next 4 were defensemen? Bogosian went 4 and Schenn 5.

Weird that Bogosian and Schenn lifted the Cup, but Tavares hasn't yet.

Santo and Aaron either start being decent to each other/or stop replying to each other or neither of you will be posting during the game tonight.

Not really. Superstar players are mostly static. Jobbers can be on any team in any situation whenever.

Yes, Burke had said he wanted to Tavares to retire before the draft and then sign with the Leafs.

That was the Rielly draft year.

1 Nail Yakupov (RW) Edmonton Oilers
2 Ryan Murray (D) Columbus Blue Jackets
3 Alex Galchenyuk (C) Montreal Canadiens
4 Griffin Reinhart (D) New York Islanders
5 Morgan Rielly (LW) Toronto Maple Leafs

Are any of the first 4 still even in the league?
