They would do that, but man would that suck. |

This plan of older core players and kids could have worked. The issue is the kids never developed and the older stars are not good 5v5 and rely on the PP. Wrong type of "stars" to lead
This is what is going to lead to issues now bc of the cap. Drury will have his work cut out for him |

I don't think Montreal would.
Edit: I think Laf is kinda like Andersson. He's not worth where he was drafted. Max for Laf would be a high 2nd. |

He was the consensus #1 pick. I just can't believe he is this bad. He just needs to leave the Rangers. |

Im thinking more like would they trade the 5th overall pick for him - jimbro83
It’s scary that Tyler Motte was more noticeable offensively than Laf. |

I think Lafreniere has more value than that, especially to a French Canadian team
Lias was coming off an absolutely horrendous final season with Ranger organization and they still got a 2nd

I expected more from Motte too to be honest

Laf still goes top 5-7 in redraft. He just has no elite skill set at all. Sutzle far and away the best player in that draft

He needs a new deal, wants a raise, and as comparison has scored 6 less goals than Caufield, Laf has played 93 more games.

Let's get this straight...Rangers lost to a damn good Devils team. The played the Rangers right into their hands. Rangers really never played Ranger hockey in this series. Instead, they play "try to stop the Devils" game and it didn't work. Ranger D-men barely jumped into plays and virtually did nothing offensively compared to what they did during the regular season.
Fox was Fox for a game and a half, then someone who looked like him played in his place the last five games.
Bread played like a spoiled loaf where he has now become stricken with Napoopis.
Vinny does not mesh with Panarin and Kane. He's not the guy to get in dirty areas alone without support from two perimeter zone players. It just doesn't work. VT was effective with at least one other player that goes north-south on his line.
Gallant...if he stays, the rest of the staff needs to be fired immediately. Powerplay "adjustments" killed the team. Why change what works. Mika in the left circle, CK20 in front. Why it all changed is beyond me.
Who comes up with this defensive zone reverse plays when you have a clear out of the zone? That sh!t hurt the team far too many times all season. It's stupid...
...and the coaching staff did nothing about it.

You could have just bought some Charmin for a lot cheaper, if you really wanted something soft that's used to wipe your ass |

I should correct myself
As it stands Montreal has 17th overall pick
However. If Florida beats Toronto, that pick becomes at best 29th overall.
So Montreal is rooting like hell for Toronto |

Well that sucked. Sometimes I'm active sometimes I go a month or two without posting but just wanted to say to all of you regulars, I really enjoy reading and debating with you guys about the Rangers. Wasn't the ending we hoped for but hopefully the early ouster is the catalyst needed for change.
Jan, thank you for all that you do, it's truly appreciated. Always look forward to your takes.
TonyB, enjoy the time you have left with your mom. Make every last memory count.
Hoping Drury can find a way to move Goodrow as well as one of the other guys with a NMC. It's just clear this core of vets don't have what it takes. As exciting as the Panarin signing was at the time, we needed another bad year or maybe two to really put this rebuild where it should have been. Younger guys would have played more, top picks might not have been rushed/ran out of town, etc. But NY market lacks patience.
Hopefully Cullye and Onthman can come in and add to the squad, move some people around, and find a way to play a more north-south game. The type of hockey that is effective October-April leaguewide (Bruins, Avs, Rangers, etc) seems to fail April-late June. Hopefully this is addressed in the offseason.
