I think we gotta go younger and faster in the offseason. Do our heavy lifting in the offseason this time and only tinker at the deadline. I would play Kakko with Chytil and Panarin as our second line. Drop Trochek down to 3C and hope that Othmann and Cuylle can crack the roster out of camp. Trade Goodrow for a 3rd rd pick. Bring back Motte if it's lower than 1mil. If Laf can switch sides to play the right side with Mika and Kreider then great, if not then it's time to move on. Fetch a decent return while he still has value because there's still an outside chance he could still be a star in the right scenario, but trust our eyes and what we've seen of his below average speed hands and hockey IQ. If we trade him, bring in a faster natural RW along the lines of vatrano for that role.
We need to start balancing the need to win now with the need to also give young players opportunities and build a team around that culture. Too often it's easy to lose sight of the bigger picture when we want to squeeze every last regular season point out of veterans. |

Zib’s last 2 seasons 81 and 91 pts and a combined +55 and 68 goals
Kreider last 2 seasons 77 and 54 pts and a combined +40 and 88 goals.
To say they’re fringe 1st line players shows u either know nothing or are just upset/venting still. I’ll go with the 2nd one and give u the benefit of the doubt.
Kreider also has 16 goals in his last 27 playoff games, I’d bet there’s not many that have scored more in that span. - nyrangers9479
Well, weve established that…
1. Regular season success is overrated (see Panarin).
2. Outside of the PP, weve been terrible.
3. 5v5, horrid
Im insanely frustrated. Why are we do damn bad at 5v5. Why are we so damn bad between the blue lines, it makes no sense. |

People are going to hate my take (abhor it), and thats fine, however we are stuck with Panarin for atleast 2 more years. As such, I feel like we really are limited on things we can do but we HAVE to do something that enables Bread and doesnt hamper him. Assuming the cap goes up to 84m we could potentially do something.
We would have to trade Chytil, Goodrow (reluctantly) and LAF. Motte walks.
We would make a trade for Kuznetsov who wants out of Caps. He has 2 years left on his contract.
Kreider, Ziba, someone
Panarin, Kuznetsov, someone
Othmann, Trochek, Kakko
Cuylle, someone, Vesey
This would leave us with about 7m in cap space to fill those 3 spots. To reiterate, I know people will hate this but it seems to make the most sense. |

>>>Kane fell into the Rangers laps, all but forcing a deal here with his desire to only play for the Rangers. That acquisition, while good on paper and lengthened the lineup, changed the chemistry and complexion of the roster from which the team really didn’t recover.<<<
Kane did the Blackhawks and Rangers wrong by waiting to state his wishes until after the tarasenko deal. The rangers didn't need kane/paneran reunion and I think it did impact the rangers negatively as you suggest. Neither of those 3 are two hundred foot players. But NHL playoff hockey games are the most unpredictable in sports.
I suspect kane moves on...they can't afford him and I suspect they would move on even if they could.

200 ft suggests that they could get it out of their own zone. They couldnt even do that and thats not specifically them, its everyone. |

I almost did because they were cheap.
I bought a Fox and Zibanejad that shows up today that I want to burn. Talk about adding insult to injury. |

Ive done some bad jersey things in my time
I still think my worst was taking a blank Ranger jersey to Cosby's the day after Pavel Bure scored two goals against the Islanders and getting a #9 Bure put on it
I think he was hurt forever even before I went down to pick the thing up

I hope you still have that jersey. Bure was a beast for the small sample size. |
