I have so much to do and other things to focus on that I think it's a good thing for me personally. I just got promoted at work and will be busy with even more OT and I'm not sure how that would have been with a deep run. - JRR1285

Good on you man!! Look... at the end of the day, real life takes precedence over watching a bunch of millionaires who dont know your name staking on a sheet of ice. If you died tomorrow, none of them are coming to your funeral. At the end of the day, we can love these colors all we want, but we need to take care of ourselves first and foremost.

that would totally suck because he just got promoted
What's nice is every little bit compounds with OT etc. Hoping to crack a personal salary barrier I set a goal for a bunch of years ago. Should be able to do it now with OT.

I'm not sure if you've explained it before or not, but how did you end up being a Canes fan? Were you a fan of a different franchise before the Canes? - JRR1285
Whalers.
Local WHL team wore green.
Football team wears green.
Whalers wore green.
That's all you need when you're 4 or 5.
I grew up on a farm in rural Sask so never got to watch the games anyway. Collected cards. When the Whalers moved I just moved my allegiance with them.
That's why I said the day after the game after we were all mad. I stand by my take. There is something off here with developing players that were drafted. The only ones who've worked are the goalies. That is direct result from Benoit Allaire. Every other skills and position specific coach in the organization can be fired. Get rid of them. - tomburton99
Well look at the people running that dept. Its pretty awful.

You're 100% right. I've thought about this all before but now I really believe it.

Ahh, yes. I think you told us this once. Hey, makes sense to me.
I was a Minnesota North Stars fan too because they were green and gold and from my favorite state for no reason at the time. When they moved I was all about the Rangers.
Its tempting to go on capfriendly and just ACGM til my fingers bleed to see what we can do, Im forcing myself to stay away until after the draft. - aecliptic
Yeah man. One of my vices is buying poop I don't need. With them out of it my retail therapy is trying to kick into high gear.

I hope that, with the promotion, management also applied a few more layers of duct tape to the hole cut in the side of your "cubicle"
I know it's been quoted a few times but the Garden Faithful podcast with Vally to wrap up was really really interesting. Here's another quote I don't believe has been posted yet.
This is from the recap of the podcast that Arthur Staple posted to the Athletic (which is for libs)
The golden scoring chance for Mika Zibanejad in the opening seconds of Game 7 that didn’t even end with a shot on goal was indicative to Valiquette that the Rangers need a new sort of coach, whether the team moves on from Gerard Gallant or not. There weren’t any offensive adjustments in the series.
“I’m seeing there’s more teachable, coachable moments for players that I don’t think they’re getting. What I’m saying is, the Rangers need an offensive coordinator,” Valiquette said. “Let’s talk about the two-on-one. Zibanejad, you gotta shoot that, man. There was no pass. If you can get it across, the pass has a great chance to score, 42 percent. It wasn’t there. The shot’s 20 percent. It’s a good shot, inside ice, you’ve got to take it and test this kid.
“And this is why you need an offensive coordinator. I believe you can make goalies a non-factor. The Rangers had seven rebound chances all series. What Mika can do there is take 25-30 percent off his shot, hit the far pad for the driving player, it was Kreider. You’re going to get goals. Goals in the NHL are three-five guys supporting each other at the net, you never stop working, never stop converging until you score. How do we get shut out twice in a series, two one-goal games in a series where you score five three times? What is that? It’s inconsistent. So you don’t have a plan. You’re skilled, but you don’t have a plan — that’s why you’re inconsistent.”

Another quote:
“And you can’t go with the narrative that the Rangers got goalied either. You can’t say Akira Schmid stole the series when the Rangers had seven rebound chances the entire series — seven. You never got to him. Also look at last year, this same group had a hard time with Louis Domingue. Then a hard time with Antti Raanta before getting shut (down) in Games 4, 5 and 6 (of the East final) by Andrei Vasilevskiy, a true No. 1. With Carolina banged up, Boston out, Tampa out, a lot of the top goalies are out. It would have been a massive advantage for the Rangers in any series going forward.”
