That palat play to set up the opening goal was just pure will, maybe players think ok on the power play and don't feel the need to be defensively responsible but palat outworked kreider and fox and palat isn't exactly a speedy guy
And on the 3rd goal even though the rangers were pressing he made a key play to get it up the ice for the 2 on 1 by outworking on the boards - dmarsden2988
Yeah, I mean it was pretty obvious to anyone who watched, the Devils worked their asses off and the Rangers didn't. I don't know if its the Rangers mindset of they think they are all so talented, but its been a problem for awhile. That 1st period the only line that actually had any time in the Devils zone was our 4th line. Thats sad. Kreider plays hard but he isn't going to drive play, thats Zib's job, and other than 1 game out of the 7, I didn't even know Zib was playing. |

I dont know, I loved loved last year's team and the run we went on, that team could have made the finals but lost a couple of heartbreakers
I didnt love this team at all, I just feel a bit duped - jimbro83
Totally agree. I can't get over the Kane "thing" . It isn't so much that Kane was acquired, but the way he was acquired. Tarasenko was enough...Should've gotten another high energy guy if they wanted to add more after Tarasenko.

"They" I can compile the list of Rangers that scored less points then Kane in this series. Do you want that? Because that's gonna be a bunch of facts that show you're wrong.
Again, nobody thought he was good. Also, they didn't lose the series because of him.
I'll take a quick screen shot. Just ask babe. - tomburton99
He wasn’t good, outside of game 2 and 6 he stunk. I’m also not saying any other players were good, they all stunk also outside of a few. But for months I had to listen to how great Kane was going to be and all the game winning goals he was going to score for us, neither of those happened. 5v5 he’s a liability and a shell of his former self. |

Gorton signed some of those NTC clauses, but yeah he was committed to trying to build something. What really sunk him was David Quinn. I hope David Quinn gets hit by a bus. - tomburton99
I meant in terms of what bingo was referring to have 2 different directions. Because of all the nmc they can't flip any of these contracts to change courses. They are pretty much stuck with it. Dolan should have allowed Gorton to finish the rebuild properly |

I'm still pissed dolan fired Gorton. Dolan wasn't committed to a long rebuild. It wouldn't be so bad if our entire team didn't have no trade clauses. - bonzo11
Yeah - things were rushed which seemed ok at the time. Who doesn't love a trip to the ECF? This team needs work though, and now have little flexability to make it work. We'll be sending Shesterkin's number to the rafters with no cups at this rate.
When was the last NYR drafted player that actually performed within 3 years? Kovalev? Those kids should be driving play - look at Hishier and Hughes. That kid line needs development that we obviously can't give. They just suck. Lifeless.

they didn't have enough cap space to acquire anyone else and weren't gonna play shorthanded to acquire someone else though |

Oh yeah, but we'd still have question if he was GM. Laf, Kakko Miller and Schneider for example. So we shouldn't just see Groton through rose colored glasses. But you're right in the sentiment he was going to stick with his plan. |

But Rick isnt that the problem, rebuild/retool quick!!! This was the first rebuild the Rangers attempted ever, it should have been done correctly, not quickly!!! I dont care about making the ECF, what did that do for us?? That was more of a fluke playing with us against third string goalies. Now we are stuck with this guy whos track record shows he doesnt perform in the playoffs and next year, will be a year older.
Maybe he will perform next year, I hope so because without him producing, we wont win anything. - Brukie

We already look bad. That would at least show that the teams serious about changing the culture. Otherwise there’s really nothing major that can be done to the roster |

Kreider should have easily been C. I'll never understand the decision to give it to anyone else.

It’s safe to say that one way or another the team looks different going into next year. I’m ready to see what they do. What other choice do I have |

In my head last night, and at other times in the series, I was questioning why Gallant kept putting Kane out there regularly. Makes sense now that he might have been trying to expose him to Drury. Just my take. |

Let's be realistic here, laf and kakko lack the hands and skating ability. They are subpar skaters. I have a little more hope for kakko given his improvements along the boards and holding onto the puck , possibly developing into a nice powerforward if the right coaching staff Is in place. |
