I was talking purely on skill. I think Laf tries, I just don’t think he’s good. - nyrangers9479
Agreed. I would be very happy with him if he had been a second round or even late first round pick. But for a #1 pick who was supposed to be not quite a generational talent (a la McDavid) but not too far behind. Uh, no.

Shesterkin makes them a wild card team. As I i think about it he'd probably their biggest piece of trade bait. A team like Ottawa would be set up for years if they got him. |

1 goal when we were already up 3-1 made the difference? 5v5 he’s terrible, added some pp pts, he sucks otherwise. Amazing how many ppl on here are saying he stunk and yet u only want to argue with me. He wasn’t good, he sucks. Period. - nyrangers9479
Stop banging on the Kane drum, he was acquired for secondary scoring for a second round pick, he is 34, nobody expected more. |

I don't know how old you are, but I'm old enough to remember 30 years ago, in which they missed the playoffs after winning the Presidents Trophy the year before. So, obviously quite a step back that year, and we all know what happened the next. So maybe with lower expectations they'll surprise you to the upside next year. Maybe.

I watched the Panarin overtime winner vs Pittsburgh probably 10 thousand times, and I always noticed how disappointed Marino was after it
that mustve felt really good for him last night |

Thanks Jan.
You summed it up with this:
I have said a lot during the year that effort beats talent when the talent lacks effort. On the same coin is Will beats skill when the skill has no will. - Fenrir
I agree, but I think it's a disservice to say that NJ won on effort alone. They certainly outworked the Rangers, but there is some high-end talent on that team as well.
It could be worse; you could be the Flyers. |

No offense to Drury he was handed a roster with a a lot guys who can't be Traded. But Gallant was his hire. His moves this year are on him. They clearly have scouting issues (Cough cough the younger players.) Jed Ortmeyer being the skill development coach. LOL. Like don't wussy foot around. Either go in 100% or do nothing. - tomburton99
With busts like Kakko, Laf, Andersson, Kravstov, all top 10 picks we need to clean house, can’t believe we went through all those bad years to draft absolute bums |

Lafreniere looked poised to break out this year and just...didn't. Not sure why, he has the talent. |

You were the ring leader who ripped on me for years for not liking the Panarin signing, you made him out to be the second coming of Christ. At this point you were dead wrong. |

Really great blog by Jan and the comments on this thread make for great hockey reading.
My primary thought after having watched every minute of the series is not about the Rangers. Those Devils are still about 3 years away from their prime time performance potential. All the teams in the East with playoff aspirations over the next few years need to think about where these Devils end up....is it going to be about speed and pace? |

He was more than fine last year. Also was good in Columbus. Idk what happened these 7 games. Entire team really should get a ton of flack outside Shesterkin. |
