Not when the only thing that’ll make him happy is playing for an American franchise.
Treliving did the only thing that he could. And considering how his hands were tied, I thought he did pretty damned well. - Wildschwein
That part, I did not know about. I mean, to answer chiefs query, the only thing you can do is offer a max contract and if he’s steadfastly saying no, then trading him is your only option. Which, Snow should have done with Tavares. |

Despite the bold, I don't understand this. What has Treliving accomplished? Since Calgary last won a Cup in 1989, Lou has won 3. And are you suggesting bringing back Laviolette??? Is he really an improvement on Lambert? He accomplished very little with Ovechkin and the Caps. - JohnScammo

He’s fine.
But I’d still rather hire Andrew Brunette. - Wildschwein

As coach.
Entirely undecided on who I want as GM. |

So…you’d want the GM that traded Tkachuk?? That’s pretty interesting. - potvin05
There are always two sides to that story. Just like when Ownership forced a GM to trade players here. Example would have worked if I said Peter Chiarelli.

Bulldog guy wanted Tkachuk bad enough that he’s willing to give up Dobson and others when he’s proposing we can Lou and pick up the very same GM that traded him. I just found that ironic. I wasn’t referring to the trade itself. If you value Tkachuk enough, isn’t part of your job as a GM to get that player happy and stay? - potvin05
I was not proposing the that we get him. I was sharing, as Vukota put it, "BS rumor from a BS publication"
YES I WOULD TRADE DOBSON OVER AND OVER FOR Tkachuk ANY DAY !!!

Probably. He did a lot of good here but I think it's time for this team to head in a different direction. I think there are a lot of questions that won't, and possibly can't, be answered about what exactly the plan for both the present and future is with this team |

The problem is Dobson alone wouldn’t fetch Tkachuk. Huberdeau alone wasn’t worth Tkachuk and Huberdeau is more valuable than Dobson I’d say. |

IMO...Lou was concerned about bringing instant credibility to an organization that had been lack for over 30 years. Filling a void left by JT. Making sure he had a winning team entering a new a building.
To me Lou was about the here and now. If he could fill in voids of youth along the way great.
It is hard too make diamonds when you big sister in the city has a bigger draw. We the NHL's Met's to the Rangers, Yankees.

Calgary obviously wanted a forward back as part of the deal due to losing Tkachuk. Yeah they got Weegar but Huberdeau was the center piece. Dobson’s value took a hit this season but at the time of that trade it was obviously much higher. I’m not suggesting that we could’ve traded Dobson for Tkachuk straight up by any means but why are we talking about this? |

I’m not particularly enamored with Dobson after his last month or so but he’s untouchable to me unless we’re getting an all-star back. He’s still very young, he’s still gonna fill out and he’s gonna be smarter. We’re not gonna look smart in another year or two if we just flip him for an average to slightly above average player. |
