He’s fine.
But I’d still rather hire Andrew Brunette. - Wildschwein

I guess because of Eyes on Isles or something. Lol I’m not even sure. - potvin05
Kind of predictable that young defensemen have a step back season at some point. Kid has some talent. If he falters again next season then it’ll be a concern for me at least. |

Anyone thinking Varly is taking a “hometown discount” when that’s what’s out there is out to lunch. - potvin05
I think he actually may. He was quoted saying he loves playing here and with Sorokin. Also acknowledges he knows his role would be diminished. Not saying he’s not going to go for the cash but I believe there’s a chance he may stay here at a reduced rate. Buffalo or maybe even the Devils would be stupid not to make a play for him. |

A team with no real starting goalie might throw some money at him. I would love him back at something affordable but this is last chance to get another decent payday. |

I don’t disagree I’m just saying there’s a chance he may stick around at a discount. By all accounts he loves it here and more importantly he has taken Sorokin under his wing. I would think the Devils, Buffalo, maybe the Oilers would throw double what we could or I will say SHOULD pay him. I like Varlamov but I’m hoping Lou doesn’t get nostalgic with this one. |

I have to say The Canes play real smart hockey. Dump in when they should. Make the pass at the blue line when they have numbers.
Rods got them playing an impressive brand of PO hockey. |

(frank)ing crazy but the inept Islanders offense has been better against the Canes than the high powered, young, potent, offense, and PP of The Devils. |

The Devils also got the crap kicked out of them by the Rangers the first two games in that series. I’m not throwing dirt on their grave yet. |

Felt all along the Devils weren’t built for the playoff yet. Young, fast, talented, not much grit, or playoff experience. Not over yet but canes seem to handling them pretty easily thus far.
Also, LG Cats! I like and feel for a bunch of their players. Too bad their fans are such d bags. Makes it easy to root against them. |

I thought the individual skill on the Devils would allow them to beat the Canes' man-to-man coverage more often than the Isles could and create some odd-man rushes, but yeah, so far that hasn't been the case. They're coughing the puck up under pressure just like the Isles did. And on top of that they're not quite as structured in their own zone as the Isles were, so the Canes get them running around with their forecheck.
I do think the Devils can come back for the same reason I thought they'd be ahead...I think they have players that can be creative enough to shake the Canes' coverage. But I'm not nearly as confident as I was about their chances! |

Very surprised to see what Carolina has been able to do to the Devils so far. I thought the Devils speed would be too great for everyone except Edmonton. Every prediction I made has been wrong except for the Devils beating the Rangers. Crazy Year |

I do not think he would go to the Oilers. I believe they had inquired about him a while ago and it was shot down.

Canes have a great defense no question. I would not count out the Devils yet though. The Devils struggling so far should not give the Islanders a pass for having a lousy offense though and losing to the Canes again. |

Probably right but if he’s looking for a big payday, as Potvin suggested, and they manage to unload some salary to overpay Varlamov then he may. |

Well the devils are losing so that means our offense is great as everyone should know. Obviously there’s a direct correlation there. |

The pass Lou gets by some is unreal. It's like Lou has no control over improving the roster and he is just a spectator. No excuses for a Hall of Fame GM and especially when he has owners willing to provide all the necessary resources. This is not the Garth era when just making the playoffs was a big deal. Islanders have a vet team and not a young building team. |

It’s not even about giving Lou a pass it’s we need some help on the wings for years now. That’s really it. The devils losing to the canes doesn’t change that. |

Yep! I'm not going to feel better about the Islanders even if the Devils lose. Devils are a very young team and just winning a round this year is a win for them. Does not change what the Islanders need to do to improve. |

Thanks for all the good wishes. I couldn’t even get excited for the playoffs even though I felt we would have beaten Boston line florida did. I have had three surgeries but am getting better. I still have faith in the islanders we desperately need a new power play as that’s our biggest weakness of all. I don’t too if coaching is a problem but I guess we need to wait and see. Also I know we traded our first round pick but it was protected I believe. So do we have that pick or no?? - kasperrko

Going to be interesting to see if The Devils at home can keep Slavin, Staal etc away from their top players. Might that give them a chance to create more offense? Going to be interesting to see. Once again credit to The Canes executing there game plan to a tee so far. |

True dat. Going to be interesting what they can do at home as I said above.
The Devils did get some good chances on the Rags the first two games but couldn’t beat Shesterkin. Where as the Canes have really smothered the Devils in every zone.
I would have to say game 3 is a must win for the Devils.
Gotta love PO Hockey!
Harry Kane scored a big one today! |

Eh, a little too little too late. A horrible season for most of the guys on this team but he mostly had a great season. I still don’t think he steps up enough in their biggest matches but he’d be the Golden Boot winner if it weren’t for Haaland. |
