IDK from the nasty knuckle podcast they talked a lot about Mellanby and even Dave Poulin as POHO and that none of the women candidates stood out. I have no idea if they have any inside info but I would be ok with either of those guys.

I'd like to see Poulin get the job.

As would I but from the information I've seen, the Flyers Pres of hockey ops is not going to be involved in the team building. He'll be more on the business, salary cap and a liaison to the media. I don't know why Mellanby and Poulin would be interested in that.

That was a classic! Can't believe it's been 19 years. Farcy Smucker lays out Kap and the Laffs fans are roaring. Shortly thereafter JR roofs the game winner and you could here a pin drop in the building! Instant classic to shut up all those Laffs faithful! One of the all-time iconic goals in Flyers playoff history!
On another note, someone should tell MJL to go read the Pens blog today. Guy wishes Hexy a belated 59th Birthday and then proceeds to shred him apart!

Yes, how time flies and what a great moment being a Flyers fan! It's one of those clips that never gets old. Couldn't stand Tucker.

Mellanby and Poulin are former Flyers so either of them should be a lock for the job if they want it. You already know that the dinosaurs Clarkie, Barber, and Homer will see to it since they are still in charge. I hear that Dale Kushner, Dan Kordic, Michel Petit, and Claude Boivin are also applying, so I'd be happy with any of them!

It's okay that you weren't in the loop and aware of what was really going on with the Flyers and what the team's issues were behind the scenes. There are guys like me to inform you.

Lol yes, and I appreciate it! I can't always get online at work so I depend on your vast insight to help me catch up. That said, is Clarkie still calling the shots from Florida? Is he zooming with Danny B to order him to pick the next Tyrell Goulbourne in the draft? Will Homer order the org to bring back Sandy McCarthy and Frank Bathe as scouts?

Unless your name is Bill meltzer, nobody here has the inside track of what’s going on in house with the Flyers organization. Sure we speculate and make educated guess due to history (some more than others) but anyone pretending or even saying they know exactly what’s going on is pure fantasy. I understand it’s a frustrating time. The sky is falling. Our best years are behind us. Every organization goes through this. I remember when the Chicago Black Hawks were a junk pile led by Adrian Aucoin, Martin, Lapointe, Matthew Burnaby, and Mark Bell. Every organization goes through this.

What about Charlie O'Connor at the Athletic?

People on this site, sure, we're all speculating but there's more people than just Bill that know what's going on. Charlie has broken much news about the Flyers in the last year that Bill either didn't know or at least admit to knowing about the front office.

The Blackhawks benefitted from the owner dying and his son took over. The Flyers went in the opposite direction after Snyder sold to Comcast and Comcast is never going away. The Blackhawks also managed to hide sexual assault allegations during their Stanley Cup run years so there is that as well. I imagine that those teams might have been different if people were fired or had gone to jail. Not quite the legacy Scott Bowman intended when he got his son Stan the GM job after Tallon built the team.

But on the hockey side, those Chicago Stanley cup teams had, in consecutive drafts : 3rd overall, 7th overall, 3rd overall, 1st overall picks with the last 3rd overall and 1st overall being Kane and Toews. Good luck on the Flyers doing that.

If the Flyers go forward with having a Troika of people in charge and making the PoHo a glorified salesman for Gritty dolls the org could enter new depths. Tortorella will eat the other 2 alive. Well not Briere because he will go along to get along imho so he's not really a threat to Torts control. If Briere or the PoHo are not his bosses why should he listen to them? They can't make him do anything and who would have the power to fire him?

It doesn't seem as though you've done a very good job of paying attention or comprehending. Nobody has ever said that Clarkie is calling the shots. Maybe you can go back and review.

What's actually funny is the ignorance that some display. Especially in the light of overwhelming evidence of something, they still blindly refuse to accept the reality.

When do the Flyers play again? Based on some of the comments on here the past few days I think we really need a game to analyze. Anyway, I wonder if the Panthers are 2023's version of the 2010 Flyers. They underachieved for much of the season and then basically sneak into the playoffs the last day of the season. I'm not a fan of Bob, but gotta tip my cap to him with the way he has been playing lately. Gonna be funny as hell if the Knights and Krackheads end up in the WCF!! The natives will be up in arms if the last two expansion teams are the two teams left standing out west. Watching the Devils the other night I realized how much I still hate that organization. It was nice to see the Canes smother them with their speed all over the ice. Thanks! Now back to your regularly scheduled programming of who has the most inside info on the Flyers organization. Eh what?

And what bothers me is who is helping Briere if not this hire? Maybe Briere will look to hire some new senior advisors, for example someone like Doug Wilson. However I really would be more comfortable with a more traditional PoHOs role and thus hire someone like Darche.

well Poulin is in his mid 60's and may look at it like a cushy well paying retirement job.

Also keep in mind Cliff, while they may accept the job and role as is, once they get on board they may try to exert their power/influence and try to change things in their view of how it should work. Just get their foot in the door so to speak.

If people in management ask Clarke for hi opinion and then follow his opinion, is that really Clarke have any influence? Or is it the incompetence of those who ask him then proceed to take it.

What was interesting to me watching the 3rd period last night night is how much Toronto dominated the entire period but couldn't score. Bob made some nice stops and Toronto hit a few posts, but what stood out to me is how often Toronto just couldn't simplify their game and just get pucks on net. With all that skill on the ice, they either over-passed in the slot area or they settled for shots from the blue line, many of which never making it through. Sometimes having too much skill is a problem also, though not one the Flyers have ever experienced of course. I think for Toronto to come back in this series, they need to get down and dirty, get to the net front and dig for goals. I don't think they have this in them to do.

Florida is a better team than they were last year, because they have playoff performers, not just regular season fluff. G, Huber, Weeger, these players are built for the regular season, not the playoffs. Tkachuk on the other hand is to me a top 3 player in the league, in that he will score 40 goals, 100 points, and beat the living crap out of you. I wanted the Flyers to give up the farm to get him last off-season but the bafoon Fletcher was too busy trying to find a trade app apparently.

Sort of like “you absolutely should sign a turning 30 year old coots to 8 year deal and build around him”

Despite the “overwhelming evidence “ of…
1) definite expected decline in production
2) guaranteed decline in games played do to age and body breaking down
3) absolute evidence new nhl is young mans game
4) etc etc etc

I’m gonna pound on you for either the next 7 years or until you finally admit just how wrong you are. And expose you as the fraud you are.

It’s my personal mission and my gift to flyers fans.

Now go continue your search for the nopa articles that were produced BEFORE the draft showing history of migraines.

CC had 8 points in 10 games so he wasnt an issue.

Do you not get that the package the panthers gave up trumps anything the flyer had? Plus didn't he say he wanted flroida the blues or maybe another team? Players do not want to come here any longer
