Sure why not? - VanHockeyGuy
I would have no idea what NYR want. I suppose they're in a win-now mode so not sure they'd want prospects...? But I'd make that trade if I was Van. |

Because they need prospects. That’s why. And they need to lower their cap hit.
Just trying an Ashton Maduro Dominican cigar, matched with an ice cold Modelo and a fresh lime from one of our trees, 86° today, first time I’ve ever tried them. Very smooth! Only $14 🇺🇸 a piece. |

They want players who can contribute right away who can fit in with the core.

Yes they do, but you can and must also build for the future. |

I was looking at CapFriendly and NYR have a few high priced contracts that they need to figure out what to do with. A few with NMC.

Kakko would look good on Pettersson’s wing. So would Lafreniere. |

I'm not going to go too far back. In the last 3 years they have had...
1-First
1-Second
That tells me the future is now.

Two different management teams. What Benning was doing is really irrelevant to what Allvin is doing imo. It may turn out to be the same process, but I doubt it. |

Last year. Nyi traded 13th for Romanov to MTL. MTL then used 13 and 66th to acquire former 3oa Kirby Dach. Dach was better in MTL.
I would say that was fine for MTL because they still had 1oa pick plus many others. Lots of other assets had been acquired though.
I think trading 11oa would really hurt the present and future of the Canucks. |

The new management already traded a first and second, spin it anyway you like they don't value draft picks like the fanboys. |

It would have to be a clear win for the organization imo. The Horvat trade in its totality, to me, is a big win when you consider the salary Horvat wanted and he was a pending UFA. Ultimately they acquired Hronek, Beauvillier & Räty for a pending UFA. To me that’s a great deal. One which Lou Lamoriello will regret given what he paid Horvat. |

I don’t look at it as if they don’t “value draft picks”, what they value the most is being competitive and winning in the short term. They also brought in a bunch of picks that hopefully they can grab a couple serviceable NHL players, long term. |

It's fine to trade 11 for Laffy if you can get rid of at least 3 of Garland, Boeser, Mikky, Beau, Podz, hogz for very good value.
Team needs cap space. Laffy is going to bridge at 2m most likely.

From these rankings. I'd be alright with ASP at 11 but I'd trade down 4 or 5 spots and pick up a 2nd and grab a center for better value. |

Players like Kravtsov get traded for a reason, he's already on a very short leash in VAN. One of about 20 rolls of the dice may work. Still waiting.

I think Émilie has been trying to convince Allvin to trade for him.
Hog gets waivers next season. |

He is a player with lots of upside still. It would just be a nightmare for Canucks with excess wingers, very short on cap space. Need for 3lc. Need for better D.
They would need to make probably 4 or 5 other trades to make it a smart trade. |

Yup, way too many wingers. Something has to give this summer you'd think.
Price for Laf will be crazy anyway.
Fill the other needs.

I was reading about that today from a beer market analyst. Twitter making it out to be a much bigger deal than it has been. They are down only 17% in sales from this time last season just in bud light. Not in there 15 other beers InBev have.
They have been losing part of the market every year to craft beers and such. |

Even Laffy poor start, could boom next season. He'd still be worth a top 10 in a re-draft in his draft class right now.
Answer would be to not overpay or just pass on it... Which something that many Canucks GMs just can't do. |
