Career AHL player.

I heard he’s getting the winner tonight.

That hit didn’t even warrant a penalty, it was a man wrestling a boy to the ice. You win championships with guys like Sammy.
- K-man25

Yeah he's playing like he's 18.

Probably why he and Tkachuk requested trades out of Calgary.

Canucks fans get what they deserve.

Whine about halflings, whine about toughness. Don’t draft a halfling, draft a player with toughness. Then whine about that too.

Irony.

- manvanfan

They’ll tell you they know better and anyone who believes different is a fan boy fool.

It’s better to complain about not having draft picks and the players drafted are not good enough. The best drafted player is called Pouty. Like seriously there is no satisfying these guys. But if Canucks have success they’ll be in with their fan boy big pants.

You know it’s easy building a winner. If only these morons running the Canucks would listen to them.

Actually we're saying don't make the pick at all, trade it, they'll have a better chance making a trade than picking the right player because it's the same scouting staff that have sucked for how long now?
- A_SteamingLombardi

Do you like at the good or just the bad?

It might have been you talking about draft stats the other day. Whoever it was had a poor info on drafts.

Historically, or of recent years. Because historically, the bad far outweighs the good. As far as drafting goes. How about those Kraken huh, not bad for a team of middle six forwards.

Benning’s asset management was just so poor.

It was 7/8 years post draft that Forsling became a top 4 D. Just finished year 4 of Hogz and Podz and they’re busts supposedly. 5 and 6 years of QH and EP and they are still growing as players.

8 years post draft that McCann hit 20 plus goals. Now everyone is saying how great it would be to have him as 3lc. After they were glad to get rid of him because he was a bust.

Canucks prospect pool isn’t deep. Benning made some real poor trades.

Maybe you are and yeah Canuck record has not been good. It’s also indicative that building only through the draft is risky. While the others preach that’s the only way and cry when picks are traded.

Historically brutal. The last decade hasn’t been all that bad. Anything from 2019 on still 3-5 years from tbd. From 04-13 was just the ugliest hockey has ever seen.

Yeah his trades killed the team and pool at the same time.

That’s why the focus now is with under 25 signings.🤓

Benning and his staff made some poor draft choices in prime positions, but like you said, his drafting was actually good. It was his asset management that was just atrociously bad.

I am not sure these new groups trades are stellar either. I know Hronek some are excited about but I don't have a good feeling on that yet. For some reason I get the feeling he does not want to be here.

The rest have been between yikes and ouch. There have been a couple like Bloom and Kravstov I thought were worth the gamble and I thought for Horvat they could have got more. I think Raty was a big stretch and Beauvillier won't be here long.

I do like that the new group has at least given some direction that they have no intention of rebuilding so that can be put to rest.

Podkolzin isn’t tough and he certainly isn’t a power forward. @marwood that father daughter team that attend all of the leafs games are national heroes

lol could you fucking imagine?

Top line might make a total of 10 mil all the while the bottom three lines would all make 975K each.

Top D pairing could possibly make 4.5 mil each but the bottom 4 D make 975K

We would stockpile picks/prospects and literally do fuck all with them because you know...you eventually have top pay them.

Then whine about team effort and coaching. Oh, may as well have AHL coaches too as that's all the players we'll have.

You know, because of the cap and stuff...

It's not a perfect science, to be sure. That being said, there are organizations that are just better at it than others and that's typically why they're successful and the Canucks aren't.

Rutherford and Allvin need a bit of time. Sure there have been misses but JR is a gunslinger.

I am not complaining and am giving them time. I am just pointing out that it has been GM after GM that has made huge mistakes. It is not just one finite thing that turned this team into a bottom feeder. It has been almost a decade and a half that the free falling had begun.

When Gillis came in the fans were crying to fix this team seeing The West Coast Express were fading and the Bertuzzi incident and Matt Cooke era were coming to an end.

Even though there was two Prez trophies only one was earned IMO. The other was handed because of a very weak division.

Pile that on with a very sh1t owner and you know you will have problems.

I really think this new group needs to fix everything this summer.

More time, they just (frank)in got here. In hockey time they are just getting started. You're not going to be able to judge what they've done for another 6-8 years because it takes time to build and not every move is the right one, for any organization.

Look how successful Tampa is, when they won the Cup in 2021 their top seven playoff scorers were drafted and developed by their own organization. But when they made missteps along the way like drafting Drouin or Connolly they made chicken soup out of chicken sh!t. They quickly realized they made a mistake and traded Drouin for Sergachev and traded Connolly for two second round draft picks.

For sure, they need to draft at avg or better regularly, develop players much more often. Could do many things better but never going to see fruit for years after. 2-3 more years to know if Abbotsford has been a success.

Abbotsford has the 4th youngest AHL team.
