More time, they just (frank)in got here. In hockey time they are just getting started. You're not going to be able to judge what they've done for another 6-8 years because it takes time to build and not every move is the right one, for any organization.

Look how successful Tampa is, when they won the Cup in 2021 their top seven playoff scorers were drafted and developed by their own organization. But when they made missteps along the way like drafting Drouin or Connolly they made chicken soup out of chicken sh!t. They quickly realized they made a mistake and traded Drouin for Sergachev and traded Connolly for two second round draft picks.

For sure, they need to draft at avg or better regularly, develop players much more often. Could do many things better but never going to see fruit for years after. 2-3 more years to know if Abbotsford has been a success.

It takes years and years to build and find the right combination. And I don't mean to just win the Stanley Cup, it takes years to even become and Cup contending team. A lot depends on what you inherit, because everyone inherits something.

The problem, or one of the biggest problems, with Canadian markets is they run out of patience and start (frank)ing with everything they've built. I don't know what pressures the Aquilini's put on Benning but it was enough for him to start messing up all the good he'd done in his first year.
