Usually you have a contender, draft picks or blue chip prospects. Benning left us with none of the 3 AND he left us with no cap space.

Players like Virtanen and Joulevi were taken in spots that should have turned this around… instead they were busts.

We’ll probably have to trade 2nds-4ths just to dump cap and start moving in a direction. This team has been stuck in no man’s land since the conclusion of the 2011-2012 season.

I think people put way too much pressure/expectations on kids. People in here were making fun of TO for drafting Verhaeghe and then him bouncing around and coming back to bite them 10 years later when he broke out. Albeit different circumstances... kids take different paths. He doesn't have to take a big step next year, hopefully just A step.

I am new here but I even know everyone is not happy with Canucks situation. The flat cap screwed the reckless gambles this club took under previous management. But the new one didn’t blow it up and double downed on contracts. It’s a frustrating circular direction.

The one constant is the owner, who I assume is giving the direction to whatever management is in place. The team should’ve been rebuilding, in the true sense of the word, back in 2015, but they didn’t.

Now they’re chasing again because all that losing, while spending to the cap, did produce a few great young players who they now feel like they “owe it to”, to try and be competitive. It’s a viscous circle they never get out of.

You can add Demko to that list, that said, I think you’re completely missing the point I made. They’re trying to be competitive for two or three players, four if you include Miller. I understand what they’re doing, I just don’t necessarily agree with it.
