Just read NYC is sinking because of the weight of the Skyscrapers. One guy answered he was glad to hear it was not caused by climate change. |

This day in sporting history.
On May 19, 1974, the Flyers won their first Stanley Cup championship by defeating the Boston Bruins 1-0 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals, making them the first modern NHL expansion team to win. The title came in the franchise's seventh season.

There is no probably he would have wanted out.
He requested a trade out of Calgary Summer of 2019.
Similar to Johnny Hockey who was tied to Philly after his RFA deal was up in CGY.
American Born players neither one of them technically wanted to be there.
See ya. - LordHumungous
The clout players have over teams these days, they sure screwed CAL over.
That's why the VAN model is safer drafting undersized Swedish tweeners. Or simply just trading the pick away! |

I Get hindsight is 20/20 however Tkachuk would have been a game changer in VAN.
Granted he probably also would have requested a trade.
The OJ & JV picks certainly set the team back. - VanHockeyGuy
The JV pick I’ll give a mulligan on given the circumstances of a new GM who hadn’t settled in yet. All the trades of picks that didn’t pan out epic fail. UFA signings more about term epic fail. OJ was the strangest pick given he only had one great showing & JB took him on a reach. I doubt any other team targeted him & a trade down shoulda been done. Passing on better prospects was the problem. |

OJ easily wasn’t BPA imo & not RHD for need. So idk why he was chosen. |

I remember when OJ's name was called and I thought WTF just happened and there was a collective WTF from Rogers arena. Horrible pick, but even if they selected Chucky he would probably have been traded also.
With the coaching and general way things were ran here I doubt MT would have been the player he is.

Oh ya, well I think Tree is a NHL calibre dman and would likely be a 4/5 guy. Not a popular opinion but |

He is a NHL dman for sure. I like him. I threw that comment out as a joke seeing he is not a fan favorite here.

You could see problems brewing for years.
I still look back to Bieksa's comments when AV left saying we are a mature group and we don't really need someone telling us what to do. They clearly did.
There was never one clear moment that started the downfall it was every month falling deeper in the quicksand.
Every GM makes bad moves throughout the league same as this new group, but I still think the problems is the ownership.

One wonders if the Luongo choke will filter down to the current team in FLA.

No he didn't but lets be realistic. If they knew he sucked four years ago and should have been moved why wasn't he? We all heard the stories of other potential GMs saying no thanks. Why he was given an extension before they fired him was mindboggling.
