No score half way through, physical game. Not talking guys leaning on each other. Talking guys taking runs at other guys all the time. Refs are starting to call a lot more.

Bonk hasn't doesn't anything noticeable. No one else really has either though.

A banker buddy of mine, huge Canucks fan, knowledgeable . Goes off way worse than Drance. Lives and breathes Canucks, I've never seen anything like it. Defends the team 100% right or wrong. That said there's nothing I enjoy more than tormenting him.

Got a PM from Carol!...

Sorry for the five-month silence. This is honestly the first day I've logged in a really long time. I still occasionally get Google alerts for HB stuff because my name is in the tags or something, so I clicked over to see if someone had picked up the Canucks account. I recommended someone to them which didn't work out, and last time I looked you guys were still on your maaaaaaassive thread off my final blog.

Turns out I was right that I wouldn't have time to do this anymore. This has basically been my first moment to breathe, and I'm still deep in junior hockey world as I'll be covering Memorial Cup in Kamloops.

Hope you and the rest of the madmen are doing well!!

IMO his offensive game is just developing. He's played 1 season in the OHL.

He skates really well, makes good decisions and has decent size. He's a defensive player with offensive upside. Regardless, he has a solid floor.

A 2nd round pick would have come in handy!

30. Oliver Bonk, D, London (OHL). Regular

Regular means the player is comfortably projected to play 200 NHL games, which is considered a successful draft pick. Those players are slotted as bottom-six forwards and bottom-pair defensemen who can comfortably play at the NHL level but will hover around the replacement level.

Later in the first round I think would provide good value even if he just hits his floor.

Trading down

The Canucks lack top end talent but they also lack middle 6 centers and gonna play defenders and once in a while I think it would be a good idea to kill 2 birds with one stone instead of just 1.

IMO he has a higher ceiling than most that profile like him because he's a late bloomer. I'd draft him but obviously not at 11.

Really shouldn't be that hard if someone slips to 11, in any GM's mind. Some teams need wingers and/or have a dire need for C.

I can't recall any Canucks GM trading down? You really don't see much in the NHL?

NFL is a different story, I love it!

Chace McCallum

If Vancouver is really desperate to get rid of Conor Garland he is the exact kind of player I'd look to take a risk on. Especially if Vancouver is willing to add picks too

27 years old with 3 years left at $4.95 million. Has been solid at 5v5 on bad teams. Probably worth a shot

"If"

I would assume if they were going to it probably would have been done by now.

You see it but not as much as the NFL. But, if we're in a position to drop another draft tier or two it becomes entirely possible.

I see it this way. Tier 1, Bedard. Tier 2, Fantilli . Tier 3: Carlsson , Michkov.

After that, there are larger tiers.

At least he provides depth at winger, although overpriced.

Myers? 1 more year possibly

OEL? That's ugly

Yup.

After my chat with Vantel the other day, I went looking and it's pretty rare that a 50ish point player on a larger contract with term left that isn't/hasn't become an issue, costs assets to be traded away.

Examples Bjorkstrand to Seattle for a 3rd and 4th.

Pitt paid a 2nd for Granlund at the deadline, which most GM's thought was too much.

Sean Monahan cost a 1st but he had become a 20 point player.

Nate Schmidt for a 3rd and gone for a 3rd.

Unless the asset has become a pretty terrible player, most as either bought out or traded for a mid round pick.

Van should definitely not be adding to Garland or Boeser to get rid of them.

Yeah, I wouldn't be spending assets to get rid of Myers either. He is done at the end of the year.

I'd think good business would be for a team that needs to reach the cap floor pays a little for Myers at half retained and then sells him at the TDL half retained again for more than what they paid for but Myers has a M-NTC that complicates pretty well everything. Or Van trades him at half retained and just gains an asset themselves at the tdl.

I also think it's good business to sell Myers at the deadline, regardless of playoff position.
