En autant qu’on « sélecte » pas un ostie de goaler avec notre pick, je suis OK avec ça… - TheInformer697041
Won't happen.
But it didn't turn out that badly the first time eh?

Someone will try for a homerun or go broke strategy.

I also think a team will pick the Russian before the 5th pick. - Mashadar
It's a gamble, but then again, if he joins your team at 21 years old on an entry level contract...
I don't think there are any, aside from Bedard, who could have an impact on their new team right away. |

Agreed.
The waiting thing isn't something that should scare teams away if they think he's that good.

Heard a caller on the radio earlier today, he said he would offer FLA's 1st round pick, the Habs 2nd round pick and a prospect for Dubois.
When asked which prospect, he said "I don't know, a Jordan Harris or a Lane Hutson"

the waiting shouldn't be an issue. show me one player from russia who was able to come over even if they had a contract. at least until now. the problem is what will the murderers in charge do to either him or his family if he does want to come over.
for the most part you have to wait a couple of years for prospect anyway.
also. suck it scabeh. |

It was nothing against the Hawks or Chicago, just hate that the ridiculous full-on tanking strat worked.
And every major Russian prospect ended up coming to NA eventually, I don't see why it wouldn't be the same thing with Michkov. |

If there is one prospect on defense I don't touch, it's Hutson. I'll daresay even more than Mailloux.
Hutson's size is a bit worrying, yes, but they haven't had a guy with that much hockey I.Q, on defense for a while. He'll need to adapt to the big league, but normally it's not a problem for players with that level of intelligence on the ice. |

i hate tanking but i don't really think davidson had any real choice. they tried for 4 years to nibble around the edges to make it a playoff team and we know how well that worked.
they sucked the year before trading away all the players and their prospect pool was poop. he needed to do something to try to build a new group to hopefully contend in the future.
on a different not. its absolutely criminal Luke wasn't a finalist for the adams. winning 26 games with that collection of AHL lifers and fringe NHL'er might have been the best coaching job this season |

After the season he just had in the NCAA, he's up there with Slafkovsky in terms of value prospect wise.

To be honest, I'm looking at highlights, and I don't think he looks that small. Of course, he's playing vs. NCAA players, still...
The guy is shifty. I don't remember the last skater the Habs had like that. |

Didn't he grow like 2 inches during the year to make it to 5"10?
It's still small but that's bigger than Caufield at least.

I don't know if you've noticed but there's a war going on between Russia and the West.
I'm not sure I'd want to waste a 5th pick on a guy that might never be able to come over. There are much safer alternatives available without all the headaches a Russian guy would bring. |

That's why the Habs need to do their homework.
If Mogilny was able to come over during the cold war, I'm pretty sure Michkov could in the current situation, if that's what he really wants.
Don't get me wrong, I'd understand going in a different direction. But I fear this might be a mistake in the long run. |

i feel he is a guy you regret not taking especially if a team in your division/conf does draft him.
also, he may be very leery about defecting/coming after his father dying under mysterious circumstance. i guess it depends on if he can get his family out, too. cause he may be even too high profile for putin but his family would be fair game, imo. |

from everything i have read and watched, i don't think any of the players in the top 15 will be bust. at worst some may be 2nd liners but you need good ones there to win. |

Yep ... if I were a GM I'd want no part of this whole situation, not worth the headaches.
If another team is ready to accept the risks then so be it, I'd rather have some control over my personnel instead of being at the mercy of a foreign dictator. |
