Makes sense. I would not have minded Barry taking over as GM, but that's out the window now. - ses111
Barry could’ve took over them fired Lou and made Lambert his coach. |

I just get the feeling Barry will do well with the Preds as GM. |

Interesting choice. Will he be looking to add another 1C like he did with the Leafs?

Trade them Horvat and Barzal for Crosby and Malkin. |

Sullivan is apparently a very well thought of coach around the league and…chiefs’ post. |

I'm not that impressed with Sullivan but I just play a GM on HB.

Is Sullivan going to make the team younger and have more skill? I have no idea if Lane is the answer yet, but hard to tell after 1 year.

I’m kind of shocked that Pens fans on here at least seem happy to have Dubas. I get Hextall was terrible but not sure why they’re so pumped to have that little twerp? |

We'd have probably been thrilled to get Dubas if it meant dumping Milbury.
Plus, he's not one of the usual old retreads with a very long, predictable history. There's a sort of could-be-a-boom-or-bust feeling with Dubas, so I get the excitement. I kind of lean more toward "he's not as smart as he thinks he is," but we'll see. Maybe he learned a thing or two from his time in Toronto and won't try to win solely with 13 first liners or whatever. As a fan of a division rival, I'm not shaking in fear over the hire, though. |

Yeah I guess there is the unknown aspect. Have to figure he’s motivated. I just never understood the love for the guy. |

Dubas telling everyone two weeks ago that Toronto is the only place he wants to be, only to sign on with the Pens a few weeks later, is EERILY similar to tavares. Can’t help but notice the similarities in both hypocrisy’s. I see a future in politics for both. |

I don’t get the excitement for a guy who had five years to build a winner with the ability to sign young unproven players to hand cuffing contracts. He failed with all the ingredients to succeed.

Dubas should have plenty to learn from with his time with the Leafs. I'm not sure how good the Pens prospect pool is and Sid and Geno are not getting any younger.

It's starting to seem like Dubas may not have had complete autonomy in Toronto. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now, but otherwise I very much agree. I don't understand the hype for a guy who seemed to ignore some glaringly-important areas of his team's roster. Maybe Shanahan was pulling more strings than anybody realized. |

I think you hit the nail on the head. Shanahan is part of the good ole boys club. Guy has failed 9 years now…..entering snow status.

Truthfully nobody knows what the dynamic was. Dubas is kind of just in neutral territory for me now. I don't think highly of his body of work to date, but the leaks about Shanahan exercising control of some sort does makes me wonder.
Dubas did navigate the cap well (in all fairness, he created most of their cap issues also) so he may be able to help start steering Pittsburgh in the right direction...but ultimately they're probably not going to be a major threat until Crosby/Malkin/Letang are all gone and they have a lot more cap flexibility. |

Shanny should take some hits as well. Shanny or someone else should have said we have Matthews no need to spend all that Cap space on another 1C.

Agreed we’ll never know. But we do know he went on tv and said he didn’t wanna be anywhere but Toronto and here we are two weeks later. Lol |
