Then just give them whatever they want. This is a buyable option. It’s what cost the leafs GM is willing to accept that’s interesting, since it might be someone new - Dozzer
Whatever they want probably isn’t in Leafs reach and makes it practical to just buy out. But yeah if you think they have no qualms on cost go for it. |

So bring in a Cup winning coach who focuses on hard play … hmm Sutter is available. Then you’ll see player changes for sure lol. - Quinn's Quest
Joel Quenneville plus a new management group is the way forward here. |

Maybe they don't need talent but better leadership. Sign someone like Toews, give him the C and use him sparingly on the ice and rely heavily on him in the dressing room. |

No need to buy him out, move him to a team like Chicago who needs a few million to reach the minimum. Something simple like Murray and a fourth for their fifth. - Dozzer
Problem with trading Murray, other than he is a brittle, useless goalie, is that on top of the CAP hit, he is also owed a boatload of money on next year....7 or 8 million I believe. Would need a decent sweetener to unload that messy contract.

He is owed 4.5 by the Leafs. Ottawa pays the other part of the ticket. He's moveable in my opinion cuz its only 1 year. But I think the Leafs will just Robidas Island him, anyway. You let him play a little - he's going to get hurt. LTIR, cya. |

Tavarez untradeable....Marner the sweetheart boy, going nowhere. The best of the Core 4 in the playoffs was Willy. The most tradable, but would they receive value back? Tough spot.
The REAL issue, is while other teams studs, McJesus, Robertson, Draistl, Pavalski, all pick up their game and caryy their teams....for years now, Matthews just does NOT deliver in big playoff games.
Florida series, plenty of shots. 5 games, 26 shots. 5 a game. Very nice.
But......0 goals and 2 assists in 5 games!!!!
Hardly "superstar" production. And if just this once...maybe a pass....but for 6-7 years.....I just don't know what they do going forward. Core 4 likely back for another run. But, something gotta change.....something....

A hatty by Matty en route to a dominating win by 3 or more would certainly generate a lot of chatter from the media who have already written the Leafs off and put some Miracle Grow to the seed of doubt that was planted in the heads of the Florida wussy Cats after last game.
Come out hard and fast, play smart but aggressively and leave nothing on the table - that's what I want to see tonight from the Leafs.
Don't play scared, don't be cautious or play 'not to lose' - go balls to the wall (and rely on the WOLL) because at this point you are playing with house money anyway.
Florida hasn't seen the best of the Leafs yet in this series - I hope they see it tonight and Paul Maurice can whine some more post game and make his funny little jokes & hand signs to the refs.

I think one of the core 4 forwards needs to be traded for a true #1 defenceman to spread the “wealth” across the lineup. - WEWANTCUP
Big time. Need some real talent back there with Mo.

Fire Dubas.
Get rid of Keefe and Shanahan.
Trade Matthews and Nylander.
Clean up defense a bit (bye bye Brodie, Holl).
Keep Woll.
Add some players with heart.

I think you're probably right. It's 8M in salary (2M Ottawa 6M Toronto). It'd be a high pick to eat that real cash.
Buyout is not as punitive as people want to make it out. Or you trade Sammy and let Murray back up Woll for 1 year. The problem with that is that both of them have a resume full of injuries. |

Trade Nylander? He is the only guy who showed up last night and he has a reasonable contract. You are insane. |

Whats done is done but…
Anyone notice Gudas grab Jarnkrok’s stick on the goal? No wonder the guy walks right in and scores… hard to defend when you don’t have your stick…

I'll say this about Radko Gudas and the Leafs. If the Leafs have any, and I mean ANY shred of self-respect, this guy should be on the clock for payback going forward. I don't care if Mother Teresa is the next GM. After the poop he pulled with the Kampf hit, the stick hold on the winning goal, and then gloating in Woll's face, there needs to be payback.
(frank) that piece of poop. |
