So retool and all set? - Quinn's Quest
If there were ever a team a retool would work for it would be the Leafs imo. They have some high priced players other teams would want. |

Fire dubas - Tumbleweed
I'm actually leaning towards this move.
You have the Core 4 all coming up within the next couple of years for new contracts. A core that Dubas has hitched his wagon to (to put it in the slightest of terms).
You have a coach, in Keefe, who Dubas handpicked to run the team in accordance to his strategy.
While you can't lay all of the blame on the architect there are obviously some serious, fatal structural flaws with the team makeup.
Now is the perfect time to inject some new blood and new ideas into the organization at the GM level. The team doesn't necessarily need to be "blown up", but re-upping Dubas seems like a recipe for more of the same results.
Can Kyle make a serious pivot from his roster construction if he were to re-sign? I'm not so sure but one has to believe that if he re-signs, TML execs believe he can and he will. |

Hawks winning Bedard might make them FA spenders. That leaves maybe the Yotes which they are known to charge a premium for such dumps. Plus they donât want to spend actual dollars for cap. They like contracts that have paid out large bonuses of cash already and still have high cap hits.
Murray is now not tradable and it seems buy out only option. - Quinn's Quest
Chicago will spend on free agents just to get to the cap floor and have a few veteran NHLer's to play with Bedard. I'm thinking 3 or 4 guys at 4 to 5M just to get to the floor. They still have plenty of cap space to take on a cap dump like Murray if the extra piece to move him is sufficient. Dubas and Davidson have worked deals in the past. The question is will Dubas be around to make a trade like this.

Dubas flanked by Spezza (were there any AGMs up there?) and not Shanny up in the box is an interesting side story. |

Where was Shanny anyway? Didn't see much of him and his reactions.

That's what I'm getting at - I think his absence from the box was calculated.
Perhaps he's trying to distance himself?
Or, maybe I'm completely making up false narratives. Just thought it's been odd that it's Spezza that has been hanging out with Kyle and Shanny has been nowhere to be seen. |

Everyone made a big deal of the Leafs not winning the first round in 19 years.
They finally went to the 2nd round.
At first glance, it didn't change much in terms of how the fans feel about their team. |

Use everyone else in trade and those with expired contracts let walk. So the big two to trade 16/88. Use one to try for Konecny the other for a Top Pair dman (add if you need obviously) |

Shanahan has his own "war room" to watch games privately at the arena. Thats why he's never in the box with Dubas.

For me, I think you make that part of the deal of re-signing him, you need to pivot your strategy. 40 million on 4 forwards was really never gonna work unless that cap got to 90m.
Question is who/how?
Willie? He has the best contract of the four, probably the easiest to move and he'll be getting 9 - 9.5m on next contract. But he's really improved the past 3 seasons and has been great in playoffs over the years.
JT? - I doubt he agrees to be moved unless the franchise really states they do not want at all. So he's staying
Marner - Big contract harder to move, great player so many would be interested
Matthews - same as above and he's a center with size.
Problem is the NMC's and you'll possibly lose the deals as teams know your desperate.
Also, Morgans 7.5m per kicks in as well.
First things first, you gotta let go of Keefe. That's usually the first step in rebranding or making changes on a team. |

He has his own room Im assuming. Also, some peeps cant watch the whole game. I know Masai for the raps, couldnt watch important games from the box/arena, he would listen in his car or watch in the gym. Maybe Shanny is the same?

When you lose that many home games (with last change) it says something about coaching
When you repeatedly attempt long stretch passes, it says something about structure
When you constantly go back to weak links like Holl and Kerfoot, it says something about perception
When you get outcoached by Maurice, itâs not good
Fire Keefe
Also, Liljegren was arguably the 2nd or 3rd best dman in the regular season. Keefe sits him for a month, and he returns as a shell of his former self. Partially responsible for 2 goals last night. Same thing wouldâve happened with Timmins. - mr.sir
Agreed
Keefe has to go. I like him, he seems nice...but he has to go. |

Shanny probably gets annoyed sitting and watching a game with Dubas carrying on as he sometimes does.
Imagine the beat down weâd witness if he hit Shanny with one of his flying water bottles. |
