Depends on the cost for Helli.

Okposo, I think he’s got one more season in him. I myself would love to see him in a coaching position with the Sabres, he’s blue and gold thru and thru.

Perhaps a part office part ice. Let him skate and mentor the team. So we’d have Girgs as player and Okposo as a skating Tony Robbins.

Keep Okposo in the organization.

I don’t see how the Sabres can keep both Okposo and Greenway. Both are injury prone. Greenway can contribute when he’s motivated and physical. Trade Greenway before his notified NTC kicks in or keep him and offer Okposo a job in the organization or let him walk. The Big Rig is a big tease. Plays well loses interest plays well loses interest. Can’t finish. Greenway is younger so maybe you keep him. But Okposo will probably be cheaper and engaged more than Jordan.

The problem w Okposo is that he is captain. If he wasnt captain, it is conceivable that he would be a 4th line grinder/healthy scratch role, but if he stays on as Captain that just sets the team back time in its development. Jiri Kulich has been a STAR in the AHL this year & room must be made for him. Matthew Savoie is probably 50/50 to make the team. I would rather keep Girgensons in that 4th line role than Okie. Maybe give him a job in the organization but he shouldnt be back as a player.

Kevyn Adams refused to provide the Sabres an NHL goalie this year and it cost them a playoff spot. There is no reason he did this other than the perceived notion that "it doesnt fit the time table", IE self imposed limitations...STUPID. Keeping Okposo would be the same thing next year!

Let a College goalie dictate what he did. Was afraid Levi wouldn't sign.

Sign him for 1 more year on a cheap-ish deal. Play him 1 out of every 2 or 3 games and get him to 1000 gp (he currently has 984). Give him a sword then move him to the Front Office. Done.

I do kinda like this.
He could serve as a player-coach in practice as grooming for his next role as a coach down the line.
Let him retire after next season, send him to Roch as an Asst Coach and bring up Mike Peca.

Please Buffalo overpay for Helle! We'll take Comrie back to help with the cap a bit, Jets could really use some solid prospects at every position!!
