I could see Willy being traded to the Blues for that 10th overall pick + a good prospect. Then the leafs proceeding to put together a package for Konecny. Flyers may want to cash in on that cheap contract.

Ek is silly but I actually like the idea of Leafs being interested in Dumba.

All in all a fun season, Leafs lose in leafy fashion which sets the stage for a fun offseason.

If the Oilers lose this will be the worst final 4 in quite some time in terms of generating interest from fans.

- Marner may be the guy that goes

- I don't quite understand the desire to keep Dubas. It may be time to bring in someone with fresh blood and ideas who isn't hitched to a Core 4 wagon that can't seem to get it done.

- Muirray may stay until the TDL. Samsonov is likely gone unless he wants to sign for cheap (unlikely)

- "Fun" is purely subjective and personal. I found this season a bit of a chore. The first round they won though I felt they were outplayed by TBL for the most part. They ended up getting goalied by FLA but also didn't seem to elevate their game after getting the proverbial 1st round monkey off their back

- Definitely agree that this off-season may be a lot of fun to see how the drama all unfolds. Not sure if I'll be too pleased if the Leafs play things largely conservative and only move Willie (who I'd actually like to stay).

Firsts schmirsts. I don't think missing the next couple years is a massive deal, there will be plenty of runway for that to get sorted if their current window closes and plenty of high end talent still around to do it with.

Could also trade Nylander in a deal for a couple firsts, sign a UFA like Bertuzzi to replace him. Then you check both boxes and rebuild the wings entirely. That makes for a pretty significant change.

Marner has a full NMC that kicks in July 1st until he hits UFA too, everyone's too busy looking at Matthews to realize that.

Well Dubas could sign Willy in a few months, I think the number he would be willing to accept would play some part in it.

If Nylander is on the open market, given the season and playoffs he had it would be a massive price tag.

So if Willy is on the open market, we will use the caps as a value example here.

What did McDavid and Drai do to deserve their contracts? Pasta is at 11 million and hasn't done poop. Panarin, Bobrovsky, Price...so many players who got paid their "worth" prior to playoff success. Pasta signed a team-friendly 6-year extension after his first couple years.
Wasn't until he played 8 season before he got his big contract.
He has 79 pts in 77 play-off games.

So there is that as a significant difference compared to Marner or Matthews.
