Huge blow for them.

I wonder what the market share is for that company.
EDIT: Legends is also the company that is overseeing the stadium build as a whole. Their hospitality division won the bid for concessions in the new stadium. I'm sure that played a factor into pricing and decision-making overall. |

What about KC? Resurrect the ole KC Scouts… who I think turned into the devils after making a stop in Colorado?
I could be rusty on my NHL city trivia though. |

I think the NHL is learning from the Atlanta chaos
they start growing it and kids start to play the game, and then they move to calgary
fast forward and the same thing happens with the thrashers
literally was exploding with kids hockey at the time they move to canada
if they rode the storm out, team would be thriving in atlanta now - homiedclown
exactly ….. the average fan will cry for Quebec and not understand why bettman wants Phoenix to workout so badly.
Austin Matthews is actually the perfect example of a coyotes fan growing up and learning hockey.
They also just brought college hockey to the area.
So leaving now would be a bad idea

They have done a good job at filling holes in the pipeline other than Defense. They have done nothing with there goaltending for 3yrs. They sat on Bryson and Fitzgerald when there Defense has been bad since they got here.
Things are developing nicely, there's been good and bad things. Let's see how good they are, next 2yrs should be very big for this Organization and Adams and Co. Could put a huge stamp on that. - Buff36
Exactly. Hinostroza, Bryson, Fitzgerald, Comrie etc….. they are fillers for the time being. None of those contracts will kill the Sabres short or long term.
More kids are graduating from roch …. The less filler players we will see on the Sabres roster

I mentioned this before here I think.
I have a buddy who lived in Glendale for 3 years.
The biggest issue with the coyotes was the arena. The arena was 45 minutes to an hour to get to with traffic. The arena is next to the football stadium which is out in the middle of no where.
Recreational hockey itself ….. is growing. Those kids that live in the Phoenix area have had the coyotes to watch and learn hockey.
The reason why bettman doesn’t want to leave is because the NHL sunk millions into growing the sport in that state.
The crazy part is …. It worked.
So imagine investing a lot of money into something that was slowly working and then this happening
It’s devastating.
And no Quebec is not the answer. Still a poopy place to live and doesn’t grow hockey in America - Sabretooth9
Gonna have to find an owner willing to fund his own arena, or the League will have to chip in, to make it work now.

In true Arizona ownership fashion they spent next to no money advertising their plan. While the opposition spent well over $1 million to oppose it. |

From what former Thrashers fans say, they didn’t have an arena available in which to ride said storm out. It’s a complicated story, but pretty much came down to the owners wanted the arena for concerts and the Hawks, not a hockey team. They literally had no where to play home games for the upcoming season. |

It's too bad we were set in a position that required us to essentially tread water after the Eichel fallout, a team destined to be a short term failure awaiting their youngest players, mostly teenagers at the time, to be the core of the team. Real free agents would refuse to sign with Buffalo, and Buffalo didn't want them either in order to carry out their plan. So, we recruited the above placeholders to get through a few seasons to allow our team to form.
Now that we're pounding on the door to the playoffs, it's time to get rid of the so called placeholders and recruit termed, impact veterans. You'll have a 4th liner or 2, 7th defenseman that we'lll love to hate, but we're very close to not having to hate almost everyone on the team. That itself is good progress.
I know there's one or two of you foaming at the mouth getting ready to poop all over this post.

Your post could’ve been reposted for 12 years straight:

Was firing managers every 2/3 years an actual negative impact?
Was it hiring rookie GM’s?
How is it that after 9 seasons it took a dude to properly assess and build out the correct way? I think your post is correct, it’s wild that it took so long to build the right way. No one knows the source of the problem as well. |

Where do you think the Sabres could’ve been had they just kept Darcy vs GMTM? |

It's an entire shift of philosophy. Terry wanted to bullrush back to the playoffs immediately after they tanked for Eichel. Darcy had been there for way too long and it looked like he was just going to start doing what Kevyn is doing/did. Sell off the good vets, pick a ton of players and let it all slowly develop.
I think they're about as terrible with or without GMTM. Maybe we get Eichel, or McDavid, or Strome, or Marner. I don't think Darcy is trading for ROR or Lehner. I think Darcy builds his team out with his drafted guys like Risto and Compher and maybe Zadorov and Foligno and builds his base on them.
I imagine Darcy's path is similar to Adams'.
Darcy's mid and late drafting was overall pretty poor. I'd have hoped Terry would force him to poopcan his staff but who knows. It took all the way till Botts was fired in order to do so. I mean 2010 and 2011, who had a worse two drafts than that? Christ |

Flyers team strategy is going to give equality to all parties in decision making. Which is Keith Jones, Danny B and Johnny Torts.
Sabres *consider and incorporate* all sources but Adams makes the final call. Which is usually what entails the title of GM.
This oughta be fantastic to watch. |

I always thought the Scouts logo was really cool. Nowadays people would find it objectionable. Never knew the likeness was the same as that of a statue in downtown KC.

Pretty sure Torts signed off on Jones because he knows there won't be any push back there and Danny is too soft spoken to even stand in the same room as Torts... so |
