He’s not even a bottom 6 NHL player. Not even close.
Most AHL teams consist of 3-5 NHL prospect kids with talent that play a lot and a lot of scrappy no name grinders who will never make it to the show.
Being half way decent at the AHL level isn’t difficult as a veteran AHLer
An 18/19 year old. Obviously way more difficult
It’s hard to explain the difference on a message board.
It’s little things you will see during the game. They almost look awkward.
Think about Casey fitgeralds errant passing during a Sabres game and you go OMG why did you do that.
That is a normal AHL occurrence and completely acceptable at that level - Sabretooth9
Sure, but he is playing with those 5 prospects for the Sabres and playing very well. Difference is he produced in his limited time here and has gotten better since then. |

Just because Phoenix didn’t agree to let the team build an area. Doesn’t show you how much hockey has grown in the area. Both of those don’t correlate.
Austin Matthews was a coyotes fan growing up and went to games. Imagine if that didn’t happen.
Or here is another. Tage same story. The Sabres wouldn’t have tage if he didn’t grow up a coyotes fan
So again the average fan has no idea what they are talking about - Sabretooth9
Then he would be a Kings fan

He has elite size. I don't think he's actually skilled at the position. Can he get better? Of course. I absolutely would upgrade him though and I think that's why a trade makes sense now. He has upside and the Sabres need a proven commodity to pair with Levi.
Levi is the future and they need someone provably good to pair with him now rather than a developmental project in UPL who no longer has waiver exemption - Hank Balling
Couple things baller.
You included upl in the trade offer for hellybuck.
What kind of draft capital/value do you think upl has in a trade? Tire fire = no value
Also, maybe I'm comparing apples to oranges but, how often has an nfl team drafted a qb 1st oa, then sign a top 10 -15 qb over the past 5 years to a deal?
Plenty of teams add the vet backup to hold the fort.... but inevitably hit the bench.
This organization is flat out giddy with levi. They have their #1 goalie for next year and the future. I'm not sure of winning next year vs. Developing levi is gonna play out the way you're hoping. |

But, would there have been a local place in AZ for young Auston to actually start playing the game w/out the Coyotes initially kick starting interest in the area? Idk, possibly. |

For anyone that wants to watch the Amerks. AHL TV is running a Special I believe where you can pick just the Rochester games to be televised and it's $10.99 for the next round. I bought the yearly package in the Beginning for 39 dollars. Money well spent I got to see a lot of the growth of Rosen and Kulich and a few others. - Buff36
Thanks for the information, hope they advance and play at the keybank center in the finals.
Rosen looking good, turncoat can't say enough bad stuff about the guy and gm that picked him.
Any chance he pushes for a nhl spot next year? |

Wouldn’t that be kind of poopty to the fans in Rochester who bought tix all season long?
Appreciate the hell out of you fans, now enjoy the drive to Buffalo if you want to keep attending games. (I know it’s not that far of a drive...but still) |

I don't know, he has definitely grown his game since January. Him and Kulich are very good friends and have helped each other. Funny Kulich was hurt the first 2 games of the playoffs and he said that watching from the press box might have been the best thing for him. Seeing how playoff hockey ramped up and the physicality. Rosen was horrible the first 2 games and they sat down and talked before the 3rd game and Kulich told Rosen what he saw and maybe a few things he might want to change. They both have been fantastic since then. |

That's a very fair point. Would totally suck.
I'm just thinking back, pretty sure the amerks played at least 1 game in buffalo in the championship.
Terry p doesnt care, he would have NHL pricing and an nhl gate $.
Might sell out the arena 🤔

Appreciate the thoughts.
How do you have these prospects ranked, including savoie, rosen, kulich, murray ect?
Ranked in nhl readiness....
Olofsson seems as good as gone IMO.
My buddy keeps harping on trading mitts as well.
Played great, but definitely a center friendly system in place. Maybe upped his value.

Really depends on who they bring back, ranking with the prospects at this point Really don't matter IMO, it's the spots available in the lineup and where they fit. |

This is a very good post.
That's why I see girgensons getting resigned.
I'm not sure if I see any of these guys playing that kind of defensive game. Murray just seems a bit slow for the nhl.
Rousek probably needs a year or 2 to become a play a NHL sized defensive game ?
The rest of the prospects seem like offensive forwards.
I value your opinion, I think you watch way more prospects hockey.
Can rousek make that jump and play tough matchups next season? |

I believe so, he has a very solid 200ft game. It might not be Girgensons style of defense, but pushing the pace the other way also keeps the puck out of your zone. With the players coming up Buffalo might have to deploy a different style 4th line. Sabres are gonna be able to force teams to change there game plans. It won't be who are the Sabres deploying, but who are you deploying to stop 3 or 4 lines of Speed and Forecheck |

Very good and I really like the offensive stategy 👍
I'm just seeing things a bit differently.
Donnie really used the KOG line for key matchups, (I realize the o zone starts ect. Are tilted and do not completely back my pov.)
He started home games with them and kept his #1 line on the bench.
Maybe he used girgs/okposo because he had no one else, which could be a valid point for change....
I get the idea donnie likes both guys and what they bring, they weren't used as fallbacks, but instead, (and begrudgingly) used because he likes them . I think we see more of the same.
Just an opinion |

Sure, totally get it and agree. To me it's either figure away to use the talent coming up or the Sabres are gonna have to make some trades. Sabres are a young team as it is, they are gonna have a young Core unless some of these Highend prospects and the Sabres brass figure away for them to play bottom 6 minutes then you are gonna have to move some cause you have more coming. |

You're building this team the right way 👍
Its definitely tough though, I know you mentioned having to speed up decision making on these prospects, that's gonna be tough.
Probably need to make a big trade.
I can see why my buddy wants to make some room by selling mitts and olofsson.
Jost has very little chance to return IMO |

Good Post!! Agreed on Greenway. And I don't think Murray will ever get that shot with Buffalo, but not because of his skating like a few have stated, but because of the Forward depth they have. - Buff36
